We'd like to thank Janelle Leiseth for her kind words, her honesty about her cancer story, and her strength to share both.

"I’ll be honest and raw here - because I’m still feeling raw from the story of “Dani Girl” and this performance by Wheelhouse. Simply put, this show wrecked me for the night. And being wrecked is ok.

“Dani Girl” is delightful, and laugh out loud funny, and adorable, and witty (so many 80’s references - don’t miss them!). But it’s also a powerful story about cancer and a little girl who just wants her hair back.

If you’ve sat with someone for hours/days/weeks in a hospital - no matter their age - and witnessed every step, every change, every “next stage” ... if you’ve been with someone during their cancer journey to the end, it will hit you hard. And yet there is beauty! Like a dandelion - some see a w**d, and others a flower. Which sounds trite, but it’s not.

My mom’s cancer journey became a thing of beauty, because she became her full self. Yes, she had rough, awful days filled with pain and frustration, but her love and the way she expressed it changed. And the greatest gift I’ve ever received, was my mom coming to me in a dream months after she died... she was inside her hometown church in Ralph SD, sitting in a pew dressed in white, glowing (literally) like an angel, young. And with her hair - like I’ve only seen in pictures in her twenties.

Go see this show. Even if you think it might wreck you. ❤️"

Dani Girl is the story of a 9 year old girl battling leukemia and how she uses her imagination to deal with it. Now if you are going to do a show with only 4 actors you might as well use 4 of the best from our area. Director Craig Ellingson definitely picked 4 rock stars for this production.
