As the Community House celebrates its 100th Anniversary in 2026, we take a look back at the remarkable history of one of Moorestown's most beloved and recognizable landmarks.

From a visionary gift by philanthropist Eldridge Reeves Johnson and a community fundraising effort in the 1920s, to a century of concerts, celebrations, meetings, performances, weddings, and civic events, the Community House has stood at the center of Moorestown life for generations.

More than just a building, it is a living symbol of community spirit, civic pride, and the enduring character of Moorestown.

Are you familiar with the tale of Alice and Wonderland? Well Moorestown has a very special connection to the tale. Eldridge R. Johnson who resided in Moorestown during the last years of his life bought the original manuscript of Lewis Carroll's 1865 novel Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. He purchased it from Alice Liddell Hargreaves, who was the author’s inspiration for the book. Pictured here is Eldridge and Alice in the Moorestown Community House.

🩰 Take a look at this throwback of a ballet lesson that was hosted here at the Community House! To this day, the Community House of Moorestown still offers dance lessons, including Bollywood dance classes.
