MRD Field House

MRD Field House The MRD Field House offers a turf field, open year round for drop in and leagues. However, Montrose lacked indoor recreation space.

Opened in 1987, at the corner of Rio Grande and Colorado Ave., this building was originally an Aquatic Center that accommodated all aquatic operations for the District and acted as the central registration and contact point for Montrose Recreation District (MRD) programs. This continued until January of 2017 when the new Montrose Community Recreation Center (CRC) opened its doors. The only facilit

y was this worn out, 30 year old Aquatic Center that needed a complete replacement of its mechanical system. The community had more than tripled in size since 80’s and it was too small to meet the community’s needs. Fixing the mechanical systems would be throwing good money after bad. The new “Field House” opened in November of 2017. The renovation’s design has brought new life to original elements such as the outdoor pool, and brought new features to the forefront, especially the indoor turf surface. This outdoor pool is still the only one in Montrose County. We have found that younger families often prefer the outdoor pool at the Field House since the indoor pools at the CRC can get crazy crowded and be overwhelming for younger children. The turf is proving to be popular on other fronts including private rentals, after school programs, and sports practices for youth, high school, and adult teams.

Making a Splash for a Great Cause!

Dive into the end of summer with your furry pals! Before we drain the Outdoor Pool at the Field House for the final season, we are turning it over to our favorite four-legged swimmers.

Bring your dog for a day of splashing, paddling, and socializing—all for a great cause! A portion of the proceeds directly supports MAPA and the Montrose Animal Shelter.

If you know anyone that can send rain with no lightning, or wind that doesn't stoke and spread fires, please have a talk with them!

Until the smoke clears and the AQI drops back to safe levels, the outdoor pool will remain closed to keep our staff and community healthy.

Outdoor Pool Closed | Indoor Fun is OPEN!

The smoke is stubbornly hanging around for another day, pushing our AQI over 150 again. For everyone's health and safety, the outdoor pool will remain closed for the rest of the day. BUT don't let the smoke ruin your plans!

Beat the bad air and bring the family inside. Our indoor bounce houses and turf are OPEN today from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM here at the MRD Field House!

Escape the smoke, grab some A/C, and come burn off some energy inside with us today. We can't wait to see you!

Afternoon update!

Outdoor Pool: Opens at 1:00 PM
Indoor Play: OPEN 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM!
(Bounce houses + New Jousting Pit!)

We are delaying the opening of the Field House Outdoor Pool until 1:00 PM today (June 30) to keep everyone's lungs safe from the current air quality.

But don't worry, the indoor fun is wide open!
Escape the yucky air, soak up the AC, and let the kids burn off that energy inside. Along with our usual favorite bounce houses, come try out our BRAND NEW jousting pit!

Pack the socks and come see us!

Change of plans! Due to today's air quality, we’re closing the outdoor pool to keep everyone safe.

Don't let cabin fever set in, though! Indoor Inflatables are OPEN! Today only, kids get in FREE ONLY at the Field House! Adults are $6 and must supervise their children under 10.

The First Splash of Summer Starts Here!

The Field House outdoor pool is gearing up for its final season, so celebrate summer with us and come soak up the sun!

Before you hit the pool, the river, or the lake this season, make sure your family is "Summer Ready."

Join us the day after Memorial Day for our Water Safety Fair to kickoff what we hope will be the best summer yet! Kids will navigate our WHALE Tales stations, master the "Reach or Throw," plus receive a free day pass for a future visit when they complete their water safety passport.
