The wife and I got away on a quick get away to the Chama River and Christ in the Desert Monastery. Did our spirits some good as we end the year and prepare for the next. May it be a peaceful year… go out and find AND make some beauty.

My sister and her husband moved to Akumal, Provence of Quintana Roo, Yucatán, Mexico 3 years ago. No one had visited during that time. When our Colorado home sold finally in June this year a little money left allowed us to get tickets. What an incredible get away and lovely visit to this paradise, especially after the election. We were so spoiled by my sister and her husband! Almost stayed… but will see about the future…?!

As I got home last night, a wonderful light greeted me: the almost full moon and a storm cloud over the Sandia Mountains.

Pretty fun and incredible day with my wife Denita! We biked close to 30 miles round trip from our home in NE ABQ, Nm up to and north on Tramway Blvd, all along the Sandia Mountains, then west through Sandia Pueblo lands to the Sandia Casino along I 25. AND we beat the incredible thunder heads threatening rain all day on the return home, very much uphill!The artwork, architecture and views are mind-blowing at the Casino!! A good little test for our aging bods !

Had a great painting trip to the Grand Mesa and Colorado National Monument. Thank goodness for cool nites on the Mesa! Heading home to New Mexico but always love the views at Ouray!
