Winter at Wilder Arts can mean only one thing: FASHION LAB.
Beginning in December, we'll be designing, cutting, ruching and sewing our way to fabulous outfits and amazing accessories. Fashion Lab is a great way for young kids to experiment with their unique "look" while learning the basics of sewing and craftsmanship. Then they'll get to show off their looks for family and friends at our own private fashion show.

WITHOUT FURTHER ADO, it's the results of our Where in Montpelier Photo Contest!!
A massive congratulations to Oliver M and Jack M who were the only contestants to guess ALL photo locations correctly! We are INCREDIBLY IMPRESSED -- they even got the last, bonus photo correct. They each just won a $40 gift card to Wilder Arts 🎉🥳
Thank you to everyone who participated! And thank you to our 3rd - 5th grade photographers who took these incredible photos.
This class is so much fun for all of us, and every year, we get to bask in Montpelier's beauty for a few months. We've all loved getting to share some of our joy and photography with you ❤️

Hey Montpelier! We'll be at the Montpelier Fall Festival tomorrow from 12-4pm.

Artists, toy designers and authors Ben Bearsch and Dan Abdo will be on hand to help kids make these awesome origami face masks.

For ages 11+, a chance to write and publish your first novel. No, really.
Beginning October 20th, VCFA alum and publications editor Grace Safford will bekicking of NaNoWriMo for a whole new generation of future writers! Through writing exercises and mandatory breaks, kids will walk away from this 6 week class with a hardbound copy of their first novel, with the option to print more for family and friends. Ambitious students will also be encouraged to design their own cover to truly personalize their project. This is something sure to become a beloved keepsake.

October Craft Night is October 22nd, 7-9pm! It's leather earring night!
We're hauling out our upcycled collection of leather scraps from upholsters and leatherworkers and letting you loose to create as many leather earrings as you like. We'll have stencils on hand in a variety of sizes and shapes, or you can create your own unique style. Layer them up, etch designs in, it's an anything-goes kind of night.

Starting in Oct for grades 3-5: two four-week long after school classes in laser cutting!
We just do what the kids tell us to do here at Wilder Arts. And one thing was made VERY CLEAR to us last spring: we need laser cutting classes for younger kids too!
So, toy designer Ben Bearsch is back in the studio to teach our younger set how to design for and use a laser cutter.
We've scheduled two 4-week long after school sessions all focused on laser cutting. Take just one class or build up sketching, graphic design and woodworking skills and take both. It's up to you!

Mini pottery throwing is back! We're kicking off our Fall 2025 schedule with Eric Potter's Mini Pottery workshop.
He'll be in the studio for three classes: Intro to throwing for adults (Sept 25), Middle school throwing classes (Oct 2-Nov 5) and a family workshop for ages 12+ (Nov 6).

We're looking for some skilled teachers to help us expand our offerings and serve Central Vermont!
Wilder Arts Studio began 6 years ago above a garage and we've since grown to a very busy art studio and makerspace in downtown Montpelier with classes for preschoolers up through adults. We teach everything, from sewing to woodworking to pottery to circuitry to painting to screenprinting to baking to candymaking and more.
We are seeking someone knowledgeable and skilled in a variety of crafts, hobbies, and arts to help us further expand our offerings. An ideal applicant would enjoy working with people, from children to adults, and create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We are especially seeking to expand our weekday evening and weekend classes and workshops.

Game on, Montpelier! Think you know Montpelier? Prove it. Anyone who can guess all 15 locations correctly gets a $40 gift card!
Head to the former Rabble Rouser storefront and enter our Where In Montpelier Photo Contest.
All 15 contest photos were taken last year by students in our Fall Into Winter Landscape Photography after school class. We emphasized framing, playing with perspective, and showing viewers the world in a way they've never seen it. We think you'll agree that they nailed the assignment.
The contest will run until the end of September, or until we have to take the exhibit down.

Possibly the cutest week at the studio -- LEGO Stop Motion Camp!
Each camper got to come up with their own storyline, and then raid our woodshop, LEGO stash, and supply wall to build their film set. Then it was all LIGHTS! CAMERA! ACTION! Or...a series of painstaking photo captures to make it look like their LEGO minifigs had come to life. Filming at 8 frames per second is slow going!
Then the campers got to make their films look a little more professional by working in iMovie to create title sequences and credits, do some voice acting, and add sound effects. The studio was a cacophony of screeches, clangs, grunts, and warning buzzers all week. Our ears have only slightly recovered.
Enjoy this short film made by one of our campers! This was filmed over the course of two days. We think it turned out marvelously.

Some highlights from Kari Meyer's landscape painting workshop! It was such an incredible afternoon, with Kari's kind and warm approach to painting.
For many of us, it was our first attempt at acrylic painting, but check out these results! We especially loved how differently we all interpreted Kari's color palette and mixing instructions, giving each painting its own mood and vibrancy and still resulting in something truly beautiful.
By the end of the class, we were all throwing out ideas for her next workshop: a view of the Capitol dome! A fall foliage scene! Snow!
