Good evening everyone, I do plan on selling pottery at the Montoursville yard sales this weekend. Montoursville is making it a 3 day event Friday-Sunday this year, but the weather is supposed to be on and off rain Friday and Saturday so I plan on only selling on Sunday. I'm prepping another glaze firing! Each piece that leaves the kiln after a bisque firing gets inspected for flaws and sanded down. I make sure there are no rough or sharp edges, then they get dipped into a glaze. Some pieces might get another color added later, or a clear coat if they have decals. Some potters add wax to the bottom of the pots to keep the glaze from sticking, but I find it easier to just wipe them off. After they dry for a bit they are carefully taken to the basement to get fired. 🔥

Finally opened the glaze firing! I am very happy with how everything came out and pretty much everything in the video will be available this coming Saturday at my next show. I didn't want to speed this video up because you couldn't see the details of the decals if I did. Let me know what your favorite new pieces are!

Good morning and happy Friday! I know I said about posting a video of loading a glaze firing but it takes me well over an hour to load all of this. I have to carefully wipe down the bottom of each pot so there is no glaze residue left, wipe back any glaze that is too close to the bottom and could run over, and I have to make sure none of the pots are touching or they will stick together. Even a video sped up 4x would be really long 😬. I have been wanting to do a video of me unloading a glaze firing, so keep your eyes peeled for that video in the next few days 👀.

Good morning everyone! Less than two weeks until my next show and I wanted to do a quick video on what it looks like to load a bisque firing. This is the first of two firings that I do to every piece I make. This one will take about 12 hours and reach approximately 1,800 °F. Loading a bisque firing is a tedious process that takes a lot of slow careful movements (the video is sped up to 4x the speed.) At the end of the video you can see me crumbling a piece I accidentally broke in the last firing to show how delicate pieces are at this stage. If I remember, I will try to do a video on a glaze firing later this week. Have a great week everyone!
