Topic: Supplies
Alright, so here are the basics of what you will need for these classes!
1) Paint! - Almost any acrylic paint will do. I'll post some links for recommendations to buy online or in-store. Fingers crossed they are still delivering and/or open. *EDIT* - You don't need every color. You just need RED, YELLOW, BLUE, BLACK and WHITE. Green and brown could be helpful but not at all necessary. We will be mixing color!
2) Paint Brushes!- a 1" Flat, and size 0 and 8 Round. The sizes vary by brand but they should be around those sizes. There's a picture I'll attach to this post so you can have an idea of what those look like. Also, cheap brushes are fine! I use mostly $2-4 brushes. *Try to stay away from brushes with really soft bristles. They should have a little bit of firmness or spring to them. Otherwise it will be hard to move the paint around. So no watercolor brushes.*
3) Painting surfaces! AKA canvas or paper (or really anything you want as long as it's a porous surface) I recommend something like 16x20" for the size brushes we're using but you can use any size. You could buy canvases from Micheals which some come in packs. There's also a number of drawing pads available and they're cheap with many sheets. BUT for those, don't get anything that says "drawing" or "sketch." That paper won't be able to withstand paint. If it says "Watercolor," "Mixed Media," or "Canvas Sheets," it should work. Be aware that paper will warp a little as it dries, but it's nothing too terrible. If you don't want to go out and buy those, you can use an old board or even a chunk of cardboard (just put a couple layers of white paint down beforehand).
4) Wiping rags! Old t-shirts or paper towels are fine
5) A cup of water! I prefer to use something with a wide and heavy base to avoid spilling
6) Something to cover your table with!
EXTRAS
-Small easel- Laying your painting surface on the table is perfectly fine, but if you would feel more comfortable with it sitting up or are working on something a bit bigger, it may be a good idea to grab one.
-Extra brushes- You definitely don't need every brush under the sun. The three in the first picture are the ones I will be using and all you will need for the FB Live class. If you want to explore more on your own, the four in the second picture are the ones I use most often for different effects.
-An old toothbrush- Preferably a firm bristled one. In some classes there is a "splatter" or "spray" effect that we'll be doing. Not necessary but it makes it a lot easier.
I'll post tonight with links and recommendations on paint, brushes, and surfaces! For now I have to run and do some stuff. TTYL and be kind and courteous to those who are working.
And for the love of Pete, don't sneeze on them.
