We made it to Friday!!

Autumn took Thursday off — not because she quit, but because her body was completely zapped. This morning she woke up right on the edge of giving up, caught in that quiet battle between do I stop or do I push forward.

What she doesn’t always see is that I notice those battles. I see the strength it takes when every fiber of her body is screaming. And still… she found the energy to rise, to show up, to keep moving.

I’m so proud of her. And so grateful I get to be her mom.

Thyroid results came back good, but her calcium levels were high — praying everything settles out.

One week until freshman year begins, and she’s still fighting with everything she’s got.

❤️🤍🖤

This is what Hungry looks like.

Hungry for life. Hungry to learn. Hungry to compete. Hungry to keep moving; even when the world has no idea how much energy it takes just to show up.

She’s grinding. She spent today working hard on the bass guitar, even playing with the full band. Tomorrow she’ll step outside to get a feel for the outdoor setup. Every step forward costs her spoons, but she takes them anyway.

And here’s the part people don’t see.

She comes home and collapses straight into bed. She sleeps, wakes up just long enough to eat, and then drifts right back to sleep. It’s not weakness. It’s not “being dramatic.” It’s the mental and physical crash that comes from pushing a body that doesn’t always cooperate.

This is the emotional side of chronic illness; the quiet frustration of why can’t my body just behave, the exhaustion that hits long after the applause fades. This is where you let her be cranky, bring food to her bed, and give her the time she needs to fully wake back up. Because rest isn’t optional. It’s part of the fight.

Hungry isn’t just a word. It’s her identity.
Hungry is showing up when it’s hard.
Hungry is choosing passion over comfort.
Hungry is refusing to let her body steal her joy.
Hungry is strength you don’t always see but it’s there, every single day.

Did you know you can drink plenty of water and still be dehydrated?

For people living with POTS and certain kidney conditions like Alport syndrome, hydration isn't just about drinking more water. Water alone may pass through the body too quickly if the kidneys struggle to regulate fluids and electrolytes or if the body has trouble maintaining blood volume.

That's why, for many people, electrolytes, not just water, play a critical role in staying hydrated. Sodium helps the body hold onto the water it drinks, but the right balance is different for everyone, especially if kidney disease is involved.

The takeaway? Hydration isn't one-size-fits-all. If you or someone you love has POTS or kidney disease, talk with their healthcare team about a hydration plan that's tailored to their specific needs.

Education matters. Understanding why can make all the difference.

Today is about preparation - the quiet, disciplined work that nobody sees.

As Autumn aka Hungry gears up for the state championship, she’s dialing in every detail: recovery, focus, hydration, mechanics, mindset. When you live with POTS, getting ready isn’t just physical prep, it’s strategy, patience, and resilience layered together.

But if you know Autumn, you know she’s built for this.
Hungry for the challenge.
Hungry for the lanes.
Hungry to keep moving forward.
Hungry to join her teammates at State.
