I’ve been pretty quiet here lately, but I’m still working “behind the scenes” on my botanical and garden related art.

I really use this time of year to stop and enjoy the very things that inspire me. That means I may not be creating finished paintings every day, but I am creating flower arrangements for future still life paintings and making notes and observations about natural forms and color.

Sometimes we get so caught-up in producing the end product that we forget to enjoy those initial steps in our process. For me that first step is being out amongst the plants and interacting with them in different ways. Sometimes that translates into planting flowers from seeds, making bouquets for neighbors, or even taking photographs of pollinators on our flowers.

I’ve realized Instagram has been a little glitchy lately (duplicating photos in posts and leaving off the last photo of a carousel) so I’m posting my finished watercolor from yesterday, and a watercolor I finished earlier in the week because a previous post left off the full view. Hopefully you’ll see them both 🤞.
Anyone else having this issue?

Scroll through to see how I tackle a floral watercolor painting like this one. There’s a lot of planning, painting, pausing (to let a section dry,) and then repeating until the painting is complete. The time it takes is so rewarding though. 😍

Took a trip up to Montgomery today to restock my offerings at . I just love it there! There are so many beautiful things to see, and the ladies who run the shop are just the best people. Do go pay them a visit if you are in Montgomery. You’ll be so glad you did! 💗
