I have been mapping history's hostile sanctions for decades now, using oil on canvas, painted collages, graphite and ink. Irregardless of date or country of origin, how the scorched, mangled skeletons of cities serve as the architectural residue of every war. On the cusp of tomorrow: International Holocaust Remembrance Day, I feel obliged to pay homage to our current Holocaust's victims - the citizens and innocents of the Palestinian people, especially in Gaza. Israel, under Netanhyu's ruthless rule, has made a mockery of what Jewish people endured under Hitler's brutal reign. As the wise humanitarian Elie Wiesel noted: "There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest". I salute too, the people who have risen up and banded in recent times TO PROTEST the senseless murders of Goode and Pretti, and other victims of ICE's slaughter tactics.
Below, detail from "Aftermath: Ruins of War", acrylic on canvas, 48 x 60", 2024. (Twenty like-sized panels depicting global conflicts over time, starting in 9,000 years ago in Jericho: the very junction where Israel's borders first touched Palestine's).
