My very first Artist Residency saw the creation of eight plein air paintings near Moodna Creek in Salisbury Mills. Ahron Foster's studio garage served as a fine workspace every day for a week. I hiked the fields and woods of his four plus acres, sketched the train trestle, portrayed a robin who seemed to follow me about, and decided to use the boughs and limbs of trees for the frames!

The Opening Exhibition (I am one of five artists) is this Friday, June 5th from 5:30 to 8:30, with Artist Talks the following day.

The first of four events I'm presenting at the Bank Art Gallery this summer, part of "Defining/Defying Gravity: the Art of Balance"; a project for which I received a Community Arts & Culture Grant, made possible with funds from the New York State Legislature and administered by Arts Mid-Hudson.

I am honored to be part of Canadian Filmmaker Bob McKenna's new documentary "Creativity is Freedom", one of only two Americans interviewed. Besides the filmed footage, selections of my art will be featured. The premier is set for May 22nd at "MeM": Montreal Musee de la Memoir Montrealaise, the corner of St. Laurance and Ste Catherine and (fingers crossed) I will attend!

What would have been the Opening Reception is now the Closing one for this exhibition in Orange Hall Gallery at SUNY Middletown: "Our Region: Its Beauty! Its Demise?" this Sunday, March 15th, from 2:00 to 4:15 PM. I have three pieces in the show, and am looking forward to seeing other diverse responses to its theme: impressions of wildlife, waterways and wetlands, flora & fauna, history, climate change and habitat loss via visual art and poetry. GPS for Orange Hall Gallery is 24 Grandview Ave. (corner of Wawayanda) in Middletown, on the campus of Orange County Community College.

Another Reminder about my exhibition "Organic Reckonings" opening next Saturday, February 28th at Mindy Ross Gallery - from 1:30 to 4! I'm excited to be showing this mostly new body of work that features my scenic nature studies, both two & three dimensionally. Below are details of my largest work, "For Every Season", which celebrates the process of evolution of various flora and fauna native within each time period. You'll have to come to the gallery to see the painting i… See more

I have been mapping history's hostile sanctions for decades now, using oil on canvas, painted collages, graphite and ink. Irregardless of date or country of origin, how the scorched, mangled skeletons of cities serve as the architectural residue of every war. On the cusp of tomorrow: International Holocaust Remembrance Day, I feel obliged to pay homage to our current Holocaust's victims - the citizens and innocents of the Palestinian people, especially in Gaza. Israel, under Netanhyu's ruthless rule, has made a mockery of what Jewish people endured under Hitler's brutal reign. As the wise humanitarian Elie Wiesel noted: "There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest". I salute too, the people who have risen up and banded in recent times TO PROTEST the senseless murders of Goode and Pretti, and other victims of ICE's slaughter tactics.
Below, detail from "Aftermath: Ruins of War", acrylic on canvas, 48 x 60", 2024. (Twenty like-sized panels depicting global conflicts over time, starting in 9,000 years ago in Jericho: the very junction where Israel's borders first touched Palestine's).

Last "good deed" of 2025: curating this sensational exhibition now open at Mindy Ross Gallery at SUNY Newburgh! Five distinctly different and brilliant artists, whose paintings, sculpture and multi-media works pay homage to Black history and culture. The show runs till February 12h and is open every weekday. It was gratifying to end my year with yet another curation and such a rich and poignant exhibition. , , , , , , , , , ,

I've just returned from a solo exhibition at 118 Elliot Gallery in Brattleboro, Vermont: the main visual component of the first ever Vermont Circus Festival, hosted by the New England Center for Circus Arts. Aside from installing 125 drawings and paintings both at the gallery, the elegant Art Deco Latchis Hotel and several artisan shops on Main St., I delivered my historical lecture: "A Brush with History: Art in Circus & Circus in Art", did a Book Talk with Rob Mermin - author of "Circle of Sawdust" his memoirs that I illustrated last year, and ran countless Open Gallery Tours. NECCA sponsored a series of performances, workshops, and classes at their state-of-the-art center down the road. A jam-packed week that saw hundreds of visitors and a good many of my pieces going home with their new owners! , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

For those of you who live relatively nearby, this is a great opportunity to see almost fifty of my diversely themed and styled paintings and drawings, in a multitude of mediums. A one-night only reception for an exhibit that will be up for a year in this magnificent restored old mill. It feels more like a gallery than a law firm, with its high ceilings, beams, large white walls, and spacious rooms. Mitchell Saler is well known and regarded for his dreamy and site-specific landscape paintings; we will both be hosting the evening and hope to meet you there! , , , , , , , , ,

I have taken to posting my art more on my social page, as Meta/FB has frozen my ability to reach out promotionally (I refuse to pay for advertising). They've locked my numbers on both pages - although I have far more than 1,000 followers, they only acknowledge 1K. I will continue to post here, but also check my social page, if you wish to see newer work and exhibition news.
