✨Big southern botanicals and French market florals are blooming in my studio.

There’s something about a Southern summer—the heat is heavy, the blooms grow a little wild and carry more drama. Flowers spill over, petals soften in the sun, and somehow, there’s a romance to all of it.

Sort of how I feel in these melting temperatures!! Anyone else ready for ANYTHING below 90!!??

When this special place is completely gone and turns into a commercial development, to know I still have a part of it living with me… there are no words to express my joy!! I was 100% sure I would not have one bulb grow and then two days ago this happened!!!

I still remember exactly where I was teaching school, pregnant with my first baby & on cloud 9 when time stopped.

This is my dad’s post from 6 years ago:

“This is a bit long but a first hand account of that day and well worth reading.

I was in my office where I was the Manager at Morgan Stanley - and on the phone with one of our traders named P.J. McGowan on the 61st floor of the South World Trade Center and watching CNBC. They showed a shot of the North Trade Center and commented that it appears a small plane possibly hit that tower. Pretty quickly they changed their tone as it became obvious it was something larger. I asked P.J. (who was married with two small girls) if he was aware of what had happened - he wasn’t. I then told him “P.J. I think you better hang up and find out”. It was only a couple of minutes later that the second plane hit the South Tower were P.J. was. It hit several floors above P.J. - the 77th - 85th floors.

My long time assistant Denise Ray and I were watching and it was only a few minutes till the South Tower collapsed.
I remember the two of us just grabbed each other and started crying. My exact words through the tears were “They’re dead Denise...all our friends are dead!”. We were in total shock thinking everyone Denise and I talked to on a daily basis just died. Then the North Tower collapsed. Morgan Stanley occupied Floors 58 - 74 in the South Tower and about 3700 Morgan Stanley employees were there.

Later that day - maybe around 4pm New York time I got a call from P.J. who was somewhere in the streets in that area. He was SAFE. Thanks to a genuine HERO named Rick Rescorla who was our Chief of Security we only lost 6 people. The Trade Center officials told everyone to stay put. Rick knew better. The Trading Floor he was on was a huge noisy open space - so to get everyone’s attention he stood up on top of one of the desks an dropped his pants - he told everyone to start filing out and take the stairways down.

Small works. Grand presence.

There is something incredibly special about collecting original art on an intimate scale. These late-summer botanicals may be petite, but seamlessly surrounded by generous matting and warm gold frames, they become a statement all their own.

Hung as a grouping, or an entire gallery wall, I love the idea of these living among antiques, beautiful textiles, old books, and the pieces a family has gathered for generations.

Things are lining up! And these playful Adieu To Summer botanicals are hitting my website in just one day 💚🥂

Hoping everyone had a good reset over the holiday weekend and I know I’m looking forward to ANY temperature under 90 🥵!! It’s brutal photographing these pieces outside but worth it when I see the natural light on them.
