I've spent time this morning looking back at pictures from 12 years ago to see what was happening in my life (it was a thoroughly abundant year, turns out!) One thing I noted was the pictures I took documenting my body. I was working out, intending to tone this, tighten that, and eliminate the other. I viewed my body through a lens of constant need for improvement.
I was much smaller, tighter, and stronger than I am now. Today it is easy for me to appreciate what was then.
I'm grateful to now be in a place where I am able to appreciate what is, now. Cuz, what's not to appreciate? ๐
This body has carried, birthed, and nurtured a whole human.
This body served 9 years of military service.
This body has danced ballet, jazz, hip hop, West African, Afro Brazilian, Merengue, Bachata, Salsa, the Electric Slide, the Cupid Shuffle, The Running Man, and every manner of 90's dance trend!
This body has expanded and restricted in order to carry me through every iteration of myself.
And today, this body walked me 1 mile to the coffeeshop and the 1 mile back, all with minimal aches and pains.
I'm most certainly feelin myself ๐
