How is your group project submission going? We should have at least a dozen of beauties in this category showing at the 2026 Montgomery Quilt Walk and would love to ALSO have yours on display!

You can enter your quilt as a group project with very few limitations—just gather at least 4 quilters and start creating! 🧵💖

Some fun ideas to get you started:
✔️ Round Robin
✔️ Row x Row Round Robin
✔️ Block swaps
✔️ Samplers

🎨 Planned palette or scrappy chaos — the sky’s the limit! As we’ve seen in past years, there are SO many ways to interpret a theme.

What's the story with the quilt in the photo? It's a quilt that is being raffled to benefit the Montgomery chapter of Quilts of Valor. This is the Roam Quilt pattern, designed by Tara Faughnan, and is a medallion style quilt that looks like it is a round robin quilt. This quilt is being sewn by the always generous Kimberly Baird from Montgomery Quilt Company. The fabric is sensational, the piecing is fantastic, and the quilting is a masterpiece! You've raised thousands for this great organization over the years, and this year's quilt is sure to be a hot commodity!

Come to to admire the artistry at the Montgomery Quilt Walk 2026!

Join us to see an amazing display of quilts in historic downtown Montgomery, TX:
Dates: Friday, October 16th – Saturday, October 17th, 2026
Time: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM daily
Location: Historic Downtown Montgomery, TX (including 14420 Liberty St)

The theme for this year's event is "Group Quilts" and we are looking for all types of quilts - modern and traditional, applique and pieced - to show off the versatile skill set of our local craftsmen and women.

Group quilts have a rich history in America. The Oklahoma Historical Society notes that group quilts are historically rooted in American quilting bees. They are collaborative textiles created by multiple people to foster community, share news, and produce functional art. Emerging strongly in the 19th century, these projects (including signature and friendship quilts) often commemorated weddings, moves, or wartime support. They served as vital social outlets, fundraising tools, and expressions of collective identity. Today, group quilts have expanded to include opportunities for individual members to stretch their skill sets and use unfamiliar groupings of color in order to create an addition to the project that suits the aesthetic of the whole.

Not interested in working with a group? We celebrate all styles of quilting and the enduring legacy of this beautiful art form and encourage entries of all types of quilts!

Want to share your quilt? We'd love to feature your masterpiece!

Today's photo is highlighting is the Texas State Bank building. Located at 14343 Liberty St (right downtown!), this building has been meticulously preserved. The wall on the northern side is what we are showing here, but the interior has fantastic vibes and historical ties.

Another fun place to do quilt photos in is with Monty at the Montgomery Community Center (14420 Liberty St). Monty's presence in Montgomery can be explained by this story: One hot day in 1906, a goat wandered into downtown Montgomery. He hung around the well, quickly realizing that kind people would pull up water for him to drink. While casually walking through town, he also realized that he would receive food and other beverages from patrons at various establishments throughout town. The goat's stay in Montgomery extended and people looked forward to seeing him when they came to town. Today, this story symbolizes the friendliness and generosity of the people of Montgomery to our neighbors and visitors.

Taking quilt photos with real goats can be a difficult and perilous endeavor, but Monty is always available to his fans and will never nibble the corners of your quilt!

There are also historic homes nearby that you can stroll by on the walking tour available at https://www.visitmontgomerytexas.com/walkingtour.html.

Happy 4th of July, and beyond!🎆 Today marks the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States of America. While there are undoubtedly more serious things you should be doing to reflect on the achievements and challenges of our nation, quilters always rise to the occasion by making commemorative quilts! 🧵✨

Red, white, and blue can never go wrong as a color scheme for almost any quilt pattern, but here are a few free patriotic patterns if you're feeling like you need inspiration: 🎨🔗 (https://www.allpeoplequilt.com/.../patriotic-quilt-patterns)

Speaking of inspirational, isn't the photo amazing?!?!?!? 😍 It was taken at the 2024 Montgomery Quilt Walk and is a mini quilt created by the talented Sheryl Dalpe. 🌟
