Hello poets who are living in Alabama! The Alabama State Poetry Society is selecting a representative for the 2026 Blackberry Peach National Poetry Slam in Kansas. Members of ASPS will be voting on videos! If you would like to be our representative, please submit an individual performance video of an original poem written by you, no longer than five minutes, with no musical accompaniment, to [email protected] by May 1, 2026. ASPS will pay registration to the event, and provide a $500 stipend to assist with travel and lodging. Thank you!

Congratulations to the 2020 BamaSlam Champion, Clarke Stackhouse, and also to the 2020 BamaSlam team, Shaun Judah, Spectrum, Raina & Jerri Hardesty!

Our March SlamOff was so much fun. It was magic. We had 5 poets from the Miles College Poetry Club including Kerry B, the faculty sponsor.

There were many new faces and all the seats were filled.

Thank you to all our judges and everyone who came out.

Hope to see you next month!

The February SlamOff has been postponed until March 9, so our regular slam next month will be our SlamOff!

Congratulations to Clarke Stackhouse for winning the first Montevallo Poetry Slam of 2019 in our new home, The Dive Bar! Jerri Hardesty took second place.

We had 9 poets come out to slam, including 4 brand new slammers! All seats were filled. One of our judges volunteered to be our sacrifice poets, and vowed to slam next month.

Our next poetry slam will be Friday, October 11th.

Awesome news folks! BamaSlam Montevallo is coming back. We have found a new home at the Dive Bar on Middle St. Our come back slam will be Friday 13th in September. Stay tuned for more news, but in the mean time, drop in to the Dive Bar and let TJ and Arturo know you're pumped to see the slam coming back.

Anyone can slam at tomorrow's poetry slam. Anyone can slam, up to 12 poets. However, only the 9 poets previously qualified to make the BamaSlam team will be able to win team slots. So... anybody can win the $50 prize!
