It hasn't been an easy 10 days for The Suborbitals keyboardist/reedsman Richard Batelaan, but he's handling the adversity with a whole lot of courage, optimism, and pluck. Please wish him well! The SubOs have cleared the remainder of our 2026 calendar so Rich can get right, but we will be back with a host of shows, a new album, a West Coast tour and a few more forays to the East Coast in 2027. Stay tuned and thanks for all the support!

Alas, we have to cancel our Sept. 6 show at Shanty Shack Brewing. Our intrepid keyboardist Richard Batelaan was involved in a very serious paragliding accident on a Daly City cliffside just north of Mussel Rock. You can see the rescue here: https://www.instagram.com/p/DcPmRZEmpdA/  Big thank you to CHP Office of Air Operations - Napa Air Unit H30, Daly City Fire Fighters L2400, pacificafirefighters_l2400. and American Medical Response San Mateo County for their amazing work. Richard's beat up pretty good and still in the hospital, but he's a tough mf and will persevere! Here's a story to describe what kind of dude this is. Richard was unconscious for an hour on that cliffside. When he came-to with multiple fractures in his legs and back, plus a drone hovering over his head, he pulled his cell phone out and called his gig for that evening to inform them he wasn't going to make it. What a pro! Think healing thoughts for our man and we'll see you all soon enough.

In August, head into Substandard Studios to record our third album. Pray for us. We'll emerge Sept. 6 to air it out with a three-set show at , a venue with some of the best sound in the county. And excellent b**r.

SubOs keyboardist and fellow musical theater geek Richard Batelaan and I went to see ✨SeQuoiia✨TOSHIII~**=🌓☄️, the son of my buddy Josh Harris, star in the Broadway musical, The Outsiders. Spectacular production. ✨SeQuoiia✨TOSHIII~**=🌓☄️ is a force of nature as Dallas. He possesses talent so all-encompassing it resembles a law of physics. And just so cool and gracious. Even showed us around backstage after. Plus, he's a bodysurfer!
