Joining them on the bill: the Lit Trio, our JAZZ HOUSE KiDS Got Talent winners opening the night, and NEA Jazz Master Bobby Watson honoring Kansas City.
It's all part of the Soundcheck Series, building toward the 17th Annual MONTCLAIR JAZZ FESTIVAL's biggest celebration of the summer. Tonight is free and open to everyone.

Throwing it back to one of last summer's best nights at Wellmont Arts Plaza, when Pedrito Martinez turned a MONTCLAIR JAZZ FESTIVAL Soundcheck Series concert into a full on dance party.

That's what a FREE Tuesday night at the MONTCLAIR JAZZ FESTIVAL feels like. Tonight’s the night. The 17th Annual MONTCLAIR JAZZ FESTIVAL kicks off with our first public event of the season: NEA Jazz Master Bobby Watson, honoring the sound of Kansas City, live at Wellmont Arts Plaza.

Opening the show will be the LIT TRIO, our JAZZ HOUSE KiDS Got Talent winners, and closing everything out with the sound of HOUSTON will be the Jason Moran Quartet featuring Kate Kortum.

This is the MONTCLAIR JAZZ FESTIVAL Soundcheck Series. Five nights of incredible live jazz, totally FREE, honoring the great Jazz Cities of America and all leading up to the biggest day of our summer, our Grand Finale on Saturday, August 15.

The Gotham Kings are taking over the streets of Montclair at the 2026 MONTCLAIR JAZZ FESTIVAL DOWNTOWN JAMBOREE + BLOCK PARTY — leading an electrifying musical procession all the way down Bloomfield Avenue to historic Lackawanna Station on August 15.
