in the interim between Halloween and Thanksgiving, we have the perfect play for you. We are postponing our originally planned reading on the 20th as we prepare for this special event for the fall season. Abigail/1702 by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa:

🔥 fire pit reading #2 at is set for Wednesday, October 20 @ 6pm. the title of the next play in development will be announced soon!

* also in the works, we are developing our co-director Melissa Toomey’s play, the devil smokes American Spirits: a play in ten ci******es, at The Tank in November, with showings on Nov 16 & 17. though the workshop will take place indoors, this is a play ultimately intended for a parking lot or vacant lot. *

🍂 it was a gorgeous fall evening last night for our inaugural reading, Catherine Weingarten’s play, Self Help Me. big thanks to Montclair Brewery for hosting us, to all who came to support, and to our artists/actors for the wonderful work!

meet the cast of SELF HELP ME :

Kate McMorran (JESSA) is a writer and actor who spends her time exploring creative ways to dismantle gender roles. Her play Chopstick won the Judges Choice Award at the Playbill Virtual Theatre Festival in October 2020, and her short plays Love Child, The Registry, and In Character have been produced in NYC. Kate has performed in the city and across the country, with favorite roles including Ann in All My Sons and Emilie in The Moors. She can usually be found reading at least three books at once and lives in Astoria, New York. .mcmorran, katemcmorran.com

Samantha Resnick (CATHY) (she/her) is a singer, actor, deviser, and aspiring intimacy director from central New Jersey. She is a 2020 graduate of Long Island University Post, where she studied Musical Theatre and Gender Studies, and she is a certified Mental Health First Aider and Intimacy Captain. She is thrilled to join leave no trace theatre in this new season, following a busy and joyful summer at Texas Shakespeare Festival and Idlewild Theme Park. Big thanks to Melissa, Catherine, and Kate!

meet Catherine Weingarten, our playwright for reading #1 :

Catherine Weingarten is a friendly jewish chick from an obscure area of Pennsylvania! Honors Include: the Scott McPherson Award and the Tennessee Williams Scholarship through the Sewanee Writer’s Conference. She has previously developed her “girly, trashy” work with Dixon Place, The Tank, Less Than Rent, Sam French OOB Short Play Festival, Last Frontier Theater Conference and has been awarded residencies through Bethany Arts Community and Monson Arts. Catherine has participated in Art House Production’s INKubator Writer’s Group, New Perspective’s Writer’s Group and The Shelter’s Virtual King Lear project. BA: Bennington College MFA: Ohio University
