Climate change may affect the production of wheat as soon as 2030, according to a new NASA study. Wheat yields could potentially see growth of about 17%. The change in yields is due to projected increases in temperature, shifts in rainfall patterns, and elevated surface carbon dioxide concentrations from human-caused greenhouse gas emissions. These changes would expand wheat’s growing range.

Human-driven and natural loss of trees — deforestation — affects wildlife, ecosystems, weather patterns, and even the global climate. Forests cover about 30 percent of the planet's land mass, but humans are cutting them down rapidly, clearing these essential habitats on a massive scale. Deforestation can accelerate climate change with fewer trees to filter CO2, a severe loss in agriculture, flooding, and soil erosion, not to mention the intrusion on the lands of indigenous people.
