Jackie’s Bunny

Every memory piece is a creative challenge, but this bunny for my dad was all about technical precision. The real feat was getting those pink-and-white stripes to align continuously across the curved seams and matching the head to the body. That level of piece-to-piece matching at a seam demands a meticulous pattern layout—if a piece shifts by even an eighth of an inch when cutting, the entire vertical line breaks.

I balanced the structured Ralph Lauren oxford with Jackie's vibrant harlequin Versace inspired-print bodysuit and casual Nike knits that my dad selected. For the back, I cut out the top back yoke of the shirt, folded the edges under, and topstitched the brand label directly on top as a custom design detail. Running the horizontal stripes of that patch directly against the vertical stripes of the body gave it a crisp, deliberate contrast that turned out great.

Puzzling these pieces together was a great project to bring to life, and I'm glad I could use my dressmaking skills to build a meaningful keepsake for my dad. ❤️

Eric’s bear

To keep the history of this classic Ralph Lauren sweatshirt, I carefully laid out the pattern pieces to highlight its unique fabric qualities and authentic details. I mixed the smooth right side of the fabric with the cozy, deeply brushed, nap of the inside fleece for a texture mix. The tops of the arms feature the original waist ribbing, centered right on the faded fold-line, and I carefully placed the pattern pieces over the double-topstitched side seams to keep that sporty stitching front and center on the face, head, and the back body.
I love how it turned out!
❤️
Eric was like a brother-in-law to me and I was very honored to create this bear for his mother. She added her shirt to the bear and think it was an excellent choice.

Shellie’s Bear
Shellie was a good friend of my sister, Kate. Kate gifted the bear to Shellie’s son, Matt. Matt wasn’t sure which items of Shellie’s to pick for the bear. He told me, in the end, he picked the perfect ones. ❤️ I think so too.

About the fabric…
This stretch twill veterinary scrub was an absolute dream to work with from start to finish. It cut cleanly with effortless precision, held its shape beautifully without shifting or stretching out of true, and pressed into crisp, clean finished seams. The fabric has a wonderful, substantial hand that feels fantastic under my fingers, balanced with just the right amount of flexible give. Elevating the piece is the tone-on-tone paw print motif across the deep teal—a glossy, iridescent 😍silicone finish that catches the light with a subtle sheen while moving naturally with the twill.
I loved working with it.
Maybe, that’s how my sister felt about Shellie. She was easy to work with. I was cheerful and happy as I created Shellie’s memory bear. It was almost too easy. I’m happy to give Matt that feeling back when he holds his memory. ❤️

My Summer with Anita…

Transforming a vibrant collection of authentic Lilly Pulitzer, Cochelle Barsou, and classic Ralph Lauren garments into a cohesive set of five keepsake memory bunnies was one of the most rewarding design and construction challenges in the studio yet.
Blending bold Lilly and Cochelle Barsou prints, and timeless Ralph Lauren classics into a single unified collection required rigorous visual engineering long before the first stitch. Drawing directly on my fashion design background, I strategically mapped out over 100 pattern pieces to balance high-contrast palettes, varied print scales, and contrasting aesthetics. The goal was ensuring each bunny stood out as a balanced, individual work of art while flowing harmoniously as part of the complete five-piece set.
It is always a privilege to use formal design theory and technical craftsmanship to turn a wardrobe of iconic, cherished garments into a lasting family legacy.
