Linnea Hoover Artist

Linnea Hoover Artist In my work, I try to convey beauty and primal energy through light and shadow. Linnea finds inspiration for her work wherever she goes.

Linnea was born in the Pacific Northwest and has lived both there and in the Denver area. Her interest in art and music began at a very early age, but art has always been a passion for her. When she is not on the road with her art, Linnea splits her time between the Pacific Northwest and the Denver Area. Besides traveling throughout the continental United States, she has also traveled to France, I

taly, and Alaska. Linnea has studied art at the Art Students League of Denver, the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design, Warren Tech (a magnet high school) where she studied graphic design, art at Everett Community College (near Seattle) and the California Institute of the Arts where she studied animation. In addition to these formal settings, Linnea has much experience in informal settings such as a trip to Southern France to study landscapes and cave art.

I'm back from 7 months of traveling in Southeast Asia, and my first show after getting back was tonight in Ashland, OR at the Thomas Lee Gallery. I've been working with the owner for a couple years now, and I must say I was really pleased with the turnout. If you're ever in the neighborhood drop by and take a look!

Another commission piece went to a happy home. The owner was kind enough to share a picture with me! The birds are Eurasian Curlew, which is the regional bird of her husbands home in Sweden. I love that I get to share this with everyone!

Demon Devil Horse

This piece sold recently, and the new owner decided to rename it. He calls it 'Demon Devil Horse'. For me it brings to mind the blue mustang outside of the Denver International Airport. What does the name or picture remind you of?

Another Piece of Art Found a Good Home

I am thrilled to report that 'Thundering Hooves' sold the week before last. The collector who purchased it has made it the centerpiece of their living room.

This piece won two prizes at the 2013 Emerald Downs Equine Art Show--First Place for Mixed Media and the Poster Competition for advertizing the next art show.

Don't You Love It When Your Pieces Find a Good Home

This piece sold last week. I originally created it as a pairing with a wine release for Icon Cellars, an award winning winery in Woodinville Washington. It's so wonderful that it found a good home with someone who loves good art and good wine.

Sketching with Friends

Last week I got together with some friends from college that I have not seen in 'forever'. We went to the zoo and did sketching of the animals. It really brought me right back to the days when we spent all of our time working on this sort of thing.

I have included a few of the pieces I did while I was there. I am particularly happy with the flamingo. Which one do you like best?

Horned Owl

This piece has been in process for awhile. It was photographed last week, so I am finally able to post the finished piece. I am pretty pleased with how this piece turned out. It is a horned owl that was part of a zoo raptor show. I just love to work from life--you get so much more movement in the piece.

Third Abstract for Scottsdale

This is the third abstract piece that I completed for the Buffalo Collection in Scottsdale. It was influenced by feathers in the heat of a desert landscape.

There are a couple more pieces underway. I will post them when they are completed.

Another New Abstract

This is the second abstract that I completed for the Buffalo Collection in Scottsdale, Arizona. This piece was inspired by the motion and reflection of water.
