The MB Cultural Center was opened on Memorial Day 2000 and is housed in U.S. Life Saving Station #4. The Surfmen who manned this post had a saying, "You have to go out but you don't have to come back." Please take some time to reflect on the heroic deeds the men and women of all branches of our military, volunteer services, police, fire and EMT'sperform each day and especially for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to preserve our freedom and way of life who we honor today. Thank you for your support of the Cultural Center over these 20 years.
Several people have inquired if the Cultural Center has re-opened, it has not. The activity in the parking lot is due to the beach being re-opened and people parking to access the beach. Thank you for your inquires and we will be sure to advise everyone when we re-open!

Thanks to all who came out yesterday for our Memorial Day Services, especially Coast Guard Auxiliary #26, Chief Warrant Officer Seth Hunt (Commanding Officer Sandy Hook), MB Fire Co. Chaplin Phil Kuhlthau, Pam McCoy for her beautiful rendition of the Star Spangled Banner, Pablo Cortes for photography, Connie Gryczka for making up the programs, Director Lois Geyer, Trustee James Heath and volunteer Betty Heath for coordinating all the food and Lyn Graham for playing the patriotic music! All of our volunteers are the best and we thank everyone for their support!
Good News! The MB Cultural Center will be re-opening by hosting Memorial Day Services on Monday, May 28th, 2018 at 12 noon sharp. Coast Guard Auxiliary #26 will be performing a flag raising ceremony followed by a reception to commemorate our re-opening. It has been a long road recovering from the fire damages, but we hope all will be pleased with how everything turned out. Reception is open to the public and a great way to honor those who gave all for our freedom and way of life.
UPDATE: Phase 1 of reconstruction has been completed : (Removing and replacing fire damaged areas, siding, roofing, and interior framework) The bid for Phase 2 (Interior repairs to duct work, sheetrock, electrical, etc..) was awarded last night! We are hoping for work to commence on that shortly and will keep you posted on our progress! Thanks for all the support!!!
Just a reminder - Due to the on-going repair work at the Cultural Center, we will not be hosting Memorial Day Services this year. We encourage everyone to attend your local town and/or volunteer organization services and honor those who have giving their lives in service to our great nation.
We are very proud to announce that the 2017 recipient of the Richard L. Keller Memorial Scholarship for Outstanding Volunteer Service is Matthew Malley. Matt has been very dedicated in his volunteer efforts over the past several years in helping out at the Cultural Center - setting up and cleaning up at our many events and especially in helping to secure our building and save and store our artifacts after the fire last fall. It has been a pleasure working with Matt and we wish him great success in his future endeavors in college and beyond. Matt (front row on right in photo) joins our previous scholarship winners : Alex Jones, Matt Schulz, Drew Schulz, Nick Wade, Griffin Keller and Paul Wedel and Merit of Achievement winners Heidi Jones and Justin Heath. Our community is blessed to have such fine young people giving back to it with their time and efforts!
Good news is that work has resumed on the Center and they will begin rebuilding exterior walls and closing in the fire affected areas. Bad news is that we will be closed for the immediate future and ,unfortunately, we will not be holding our annual May Yard Sale or Memorial Day Services at the Center this year. We hope to be back up and running better than ever as soon as possible. Thanks to all for your support!!
Progress report the charred History room is now, history!
Work started today on phase 1 of repairs at the Center! We will keep you posted on progress!

Thank you for all of your support!
Hello All! Bids are out for our reconstruction from the fire and we hope to start making progress shortly after the New Year! It will take some time, but we will get back up and running and better than ever as soon as possible! We hope to do a few music events in the coming months off-site so be sure to keep checking back for updates! We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and great Holiday season!
Progress update: Specs for the bids being worked up and required repairs will hopefully be going out to bid in near future. We will keep you posted!
Had the pleasure of working with this great volunteer crew this weekend getting all photos and artifacts cleaned up and safely stored. The major clean-up has been completed, now working with insurance to get things going on the re-build. It may take some time, but we will be back!
