🎤 MAKE A COMIC LOOK GOOD SATURDAY! 🎤

This week, we're putting the spotlight on a guy who somehow manages to be everywhere, do everything, and STILL show up for the people around him.

CHRIS SCHLICHTING! 👏

SiriusXM, Bob & Tom, Dry Bar Comedy, 800 Pound Gorilla, Alternating Currents, Tomfoolery on Tremont...

LOOK, WE'RE NOT LISTING ALL HIS CREDITS. THAT'S WHAT THE DAMN GRAPHIC IS FOR! 😂

But honestly, that's not what impresses us most about Schlick.

It's that with everything he's accomplished, he still makes time to help other comedians find their footing.

He produces shows, shares opportunities, and when he can, takes local comics on the road with him. He doesn't have to do any of that. But he does.

And consider what he's juggling...

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Twins who are seniors in high school AND a daughter in college!

❤️ A wife and family who deserve his time!

💼 A FULL-TIME JOB!

🐕 Dogs who probably don't give a damn about his comedy credits!

🎤 And a comedy career that would keep most people busy all by itself!

SERIOUSLY, WHEN DOES THIS GUY SLEEP?!

What we appreciate most about Chris isn't where he's performed or how many people have heard his jokes.

It's that he hasn't forgotten the people sharing the stage with him.

He shows up. He gives people chances. He helps make the Quad Cities comedy scene better, not just for himself, but for everybody trying to find their place in it.

And we're genuinely grateful that, every now and then, he chooses to spend some of his limited free time hanging out with us broken idiots.

Our friend Hippy brought this event to our attention, and we thought it was worth sharing with our Broken Blackhawk Comedy family!

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and Family Resources is hosting a Fall Pumpkin Fest & Mini Market to bring the community together while raising money to support survivors of domestic abuse.

🎤 THURSDAY THANK YOUS! 🎤

Another Wednesday, another wonderfully weird night at the Broken Blackhawk Comedy Open Mic!

Last night was our 2nd Wednesday Theme Night: FIX-A-TROPE!

And boy, did we learn some things!

First, we learned that our audience has absolutely no idea what a trope is.

Even worse, we discovered that most of our comedians don't know what a trope is either.

Apparently, the biggest trope of the night was a bunch of idiots pretending they understood the assignment. 😂

But that's okay! We didn't let a little thing like understanding the theme get in the way of having a great time!

We welcomed a couple of FIRST-TIMERS, a SECOND-TIMER, and a whole slew of our favorite repeat offenders! Thank you to everyone who took the stage, everyone who filled a seat, and everyone who nodded along like they knew what the hell we were talking about.

We had laughs. We had surprises. We made it weird. And by the end of the night, absolutely nobody had learned anything.

JUST THE WAY WE LIKE IT!

Everyone seemed to have a great time, and we assume you all made it home safely. We haven't heard otherwise, and we're not particularly interested in investigating.
