Marathon Fourth Wall Films' Hero Street Documentaries TOMORROW, Sunday May 24th, starting at 7 pm!

7:00 PM | The Last to Fall From Hero Street:
An unforgettable story of American courage, character and perseverance. Meet John S. Muños who grew up in a boxcar home on 2nd Street (now named Hero Street) in Silvis, Illinois. At age 23, shortly after marrying his sweetheart Mary Beserra, John was killed in the Battle of Bloody Ridge.

7:30 PM | Riding the Rails to Hero Street:
The story of the immigrants’ early 1900s journey from Mexico, during the revolution, to the Quad Cities region. The families of Hero Street lost six young men in World War II and two in the Korean War, more than any other street in America. Hero Street, as it is now known, has provided over 100 service members since World War II.

8:00 PM | Letters Home to Hero Street:
Frank Sandoval was just beginning a new job at the Rock Island Arsenal when he was drafted in 1942. He sent hundreds of letters to family and friends during the two years he was in the service and the 130 letters that remain tell the story of one man's dramatic and epic journey from Illinois to India.

8:30 | A Bridge Too Far From Hero Street:
The story of William Sandoval, who was born in a boxcar into an impoverished family of twelve and was killed at age 21 following his involvement in what is still the largest air assault in history.

It was a beautiful celebration of a man that will be deeply missed by SO many. We joined a full auditorium of family, friends, fans and associates in Wild Rose, Wisconsin on May 9th to remember beloved Wisconsin historian and celebrated writer Jerry Apps. From the family memories shared by his children and colleagues, Jerry's favorite polka music played by the Wild Rose Community Band with a rousing rendition of "On Wisconsin" to bring the house down, to a special Wisconsin PBS Tribute video, all of us present were wrapped in the warmth of a life well-lived. We ended our time in Jerry's hometown of Wild Rose visiting the Jerry Apps Reading Room at the local library where a reception was held.

We were very fortunate to have Jerry involved in two of our documentary films, our Emmy-nominated "Country School: One Room - One Nation" and our award-winning "The Barn Raisers". Jerry also did an on-camera interview for our new upcoming documentary "Peshtigo: American Firestorm" slated for release in October. He was a master storyteller, a respected colleague and an endearing friend to us. What an incredible gift and legacy he has left all of us. https://jerryapps.com/

We are so fortunate to have worked with this outstanding musician on "The Last to Fall from Hero Street: John Munos' Story". David G Smith's "Hero Street" song captures the story and legacy of the block and a half street in Silvis, Illinois that sacrificed more men in service to our country than any other in the U.S.A. The legacy of service from Hero Street continues today with over 150 serving in the military. Thank you, David, for your beautiful and powerful song honoring these amazing Americans, their families, their stories, their sacrifices, and their determination. It gets into your bones... and your heart. Wishing you all the best with the attention your music so richly deserves.

Saving Country Music added my new album Hero Street (out June 26) to their Most Anticipated New Albums alongside Shakey Graves, Willie Nelson, Joshua Ray Walker, Kevin Morby, Steep Canyon Rangers, The Deslondes and more.

She's as dazzling as we expected! We are delighted to be working with the brilliant Lojo Russo who is creating music for Quad Cities Pride in Memory's new documentary "Our Story: Pride in Memory". We had a marvelous meeting at The Atlas Collective getting plans in place for recording and filming. Thank you, Lojo, for being a part of this incredible and timely project! (She shared a bit of a song she is writing for the film and we had goosebumps.) A BIG note of gratitude to Quad City Arts for awarding QC Pride in Memory an Arts Dollars grant to make this work possible!

We are looking forward to joining "Fiend Incarnate: Villisca Axe Murders of 1912" author and expert Ed Epperly in West Des Moines on May 17 to talk about the unsolved murders of the Moore family and overnight guests Lena and Ina Stillinger! "Villisca: Living with a Mystery" was our first documentary and Ed was interviewed and served as our key consultant on the project. We have been friends ever since... and yes, we still puzzle over the Villisca case whenever we get together. Come on over if you are in the area, and DO spread the word!

On the morning of June 10, 1912, the peaceful town of Villisca, Iowa awoke to horror. Josiah and Sara Moore, along with their four child...
