That’s a wrap on Band Camp 2026!

Our students spent the past week at Band Camp preparing for the upcoming season, rehearsing over 50 hours and bringing our 2026 show “Awakening” to life. It was an incredible week of hard work, growth, and memories for the band, and a strong start to our season!

This year also marked a big change for the band. After almost 20 years at our previous band camp location, this year we made the change to Covenant Hills Camp & Retreat in Otisville! Their high-quality rehearsal and sleeping facilities combined with fun activities made the camp a perfect fit for our band.

We are so thankful to the entire Covenant Hills staff for hosting us and making us feel at home. We’d especially like to thank Jackie and Kevin Eichhorn for all of their support throughout the week and over the past 9 months of planning!

Lastly, we’d like to thank our incredible team of volunteers and instructional staff who made this week possible. From the medical staff treating every injury and illness, to the chaperones taking care of the students, you all helped our students and the band get stronger on and off the field. Your support and dedication to our students made this week such a success, and we couldn’t be more thankful.

Although our end of camp performance got rained out, we hope you can join us for our Friends and Family Performance taking place this Thursday at the end of rehearsal in the LCHS Stadium. Join us at 8:30pm to see what we learned at camp and to catch a preview of our show “Awakening”!

Last week, our Drum Majors and Horn Sergeants attended the BOA Summer Camp at Ball State University. They received hands-on training from some of the best educators in the marching band activity, and will be using what they learned to lead the band this season.

Thank you to the LCHS Band Boosters for their support in offsetting the cost of the camp. We appreciate all that you do for our students and program!

As graduation season arrives, we want to take a moment to honor our incredible Senior Class of 2026! Their hard work, dedication, and positivity have inspired everyone in the program, and their commitment to our Tradition of Excellence has left a lasting mark on our band.

Through all the hard work and countless hours of rehearsals, they've contributed so much to our band and our community. Their legacy will continue long after they have left the band room and will not be forgotten. We are incredibly proud of everything they've accomplished and can’t wait to see the amazing things their futures hold!

Last week, the L’Anse Creuse High School Wind Symphony performed at the 56th annual Spring Conference on Wind and Percussion Music! We were incredibly honored to be invited to perform at this conference for the third time (2011 and 2019). These students worked on this music for the past 11 months and put on a fantastic performance!

Thank you to Dr. Scott Boerma, Kevin West, and the entire WMU and Miller Auditorium team for this wonderful opportunity and their support! We also want to thank Bob Rogers Travel for coordinating our charter bus, as well as our chaperones and trailer driver for their assistance throughout the trip. Lastly, thank you to Nicole Piunno for writing a great piece and sharing more about it with our students!

Congratulations to the Huron Valley Wind Ensemble for an excellent performance! It was an honor to share the stage with you all.

We wouldn’t be able to pursue opportunities like this if it weren’t for the LCHS Band Boosters, who support us in countless ways throughout the year. Thank you to all of the parents, volunteers, and sponsors for their endless support of our students!
