SYNOPSIS
Welcome to Hendricks, where a routine small-town council meeting becomes a murder investigation after an IRS employee turns up dead. Everyone seems to have a secret, everyone has a motive, and the town’s wonderfully inept officials and eccentric citizens are determined to find the killer.

CHARACTERS (5F/4M)

KATHLEEN LYLES: (Female 30s-50s) the Mayor of Hendricks. Authoritative, determined and increasingly frustrated as she tries to control the chaos.

CORA SEDGEWICK: (Female 40s-70s) a Citizen of Hendricks. A nosy small-town busybody who loves knowing everyone’s business.

EVELYN MARTINDALE: (Female 30s-50s) the Drama Teacher. Eccentric, but organized, analytical and determined to make sense any mystery.

EDDIE KING: (Male 30s-50s) the Newspaper Editor. Self-important, nosy and hilariously ill-equipped to be the great reporter he imagines himself to be.

DR. EFREM BISHOP: (Male 50s-70s) the Town Doctor. Gruff, observant and probably the smartest person in the room but also indifferent.

LYDIA KLEFT: (Female 20s-40s) the Town Clerk. Nervous, sweet and not especially bright.

MATTIE JOHANSEN: (Female 30s-50s) a Citizen of Hendricks. Outspoken, practical and quick-witted; married to Carl Johansen.

WESELY THORNE: (Male 20s-40s) the Sheriff of Hendricks. Well-meaning, authoritative and spectacularly inept at detective work.

CARL JOHANSEN: (Male 30s-50s) a Citizen of Hendricks. Sarcastic, argumentative and unimpressed by the investigation; Mattie’s long-suffering husband.
