The Potter and Painter
Introducing our Featured Artists for the Month of August—husband and wife duo Lionel & Katrina Clark, whose shared love of family, art, and art education inspires their creative journey.
As high school teachers in Mississippi with more than 20 years of experience in education, Lionel and Katrina have found continued joy and inspiration through their students, colleagues, and the world around them.
Lionel’s artwork begins its life on the potter’s wheel, where he transforms clay into unique forms and functional works of art. Katrina brings her creativity to the canvas through painting, creating pieces that reflect her own artistic voice and perspective.
Together, Lionel and Katrina beautifully blend their passions for art and education, reminding us that creativity can be found in every stage of life—and that inspiration often begins with the people and experiences we encounter along the way.

Introducing August's Artist of the Month... Dr. Jessica Ryan!

Dr. Jessica Ryan, spends most of her days connecting with clients in her private psychotherapy practice, but creating art has become a way of shifting energy from the counseling room to the canvas.
The challenge and fluidity of oil paint, makes this Dr. Ryan's favorite medium; her thicker strokes and use of bold colors are brought to life by the use of her palette knife and skill. Driven by a philosophy of letting go of the rules and just being and creating, Dr. Ryan creates from her gut.
From creating pieces that reflect nature, where a sense of calm and beauty reside, to creating her favorite subject to paint, florals, Dr. Ryan is an inspiration to anyone wishing to begin creating art at any age and skill level with her, herself, having no formal art training. Dr. Ryan lifted her first paint brush to canvas in her mid-thirties dollowing a trip to the Cleveland Art Museum. Hailing from Northeast, Ohio, Dr. Ryan has made Central Baldwin County, AL her home since 2015. Dr. Ryan's artworks may be viewed and purchased at The Frenchmen, located at 222 Dauphin St. Mobile, AL. 🔦

Meet Leo Ferreira, a Mobile based mixed media artist who creates one of a kind pieces of art using objects from all around the world. Arti Gras is deeply grateful for Leo’s support, as he and his business partner, Daniel Owens, are the reason why Arti Gras got off the ground. Their countless hours of offering advice, onsite planning, and encouragement made Arti Gras what it is today. Merci Beaucoup!
