is not just a name on a flyer. She is a force. Dance Magazine’s 25 to Watch. HBO. Summer Walker. A career built in rooms that demand excellence — and this June, she is bringing every bit of that to Mobile, Alabama.

She will be setting original repertory at the INNERGY Summer Dance Experience. Six days of direct access to one of the most sought-after artists working in dance right now. Not a workshop. Not a convention. A full residential experience where your dancer gets to create, train, and perform alongside leading industry professionals — in a room built to see them.

Your dancer belongs in this room. We believe that before they even walk through the door.

At INNERGY, we believe in preparing dancers for life beyond the studio — and that includes creating REAL professional opportunities through our mentorship progra that will officially launch this FALL!

A huge thank you to Via Health, Fitness & Enrichment Center for inviting us to perform for the members of AARP!

Because of this opportunity, our dancers were not only able to share their artistry with the community — they were also PAID for their performance. 👏🏾💰

Through INNERGY’s mentorship program, dancers gain:

Conversations with INNERGY — Episode 01 💥
Some things are born from what you didn’t have.

INNERGY was built from that place — the absence of seeing yourself on the stage, in the studio, at the front of the room. Co-Artistic Director and Founder Tyra J Ike-asogwa knew what it felt like to move through dance spaces that weren’t designed with her in mind. So she built one that was.

A space where Black and Brown dancers are centered, celebrated, and given the careful guidance and opportunity they have always deserved. And a space where every dancer — regardless of background, identity, or where they come from — is genuinely welcomed into what she is creating.

Because that’s the whole point. Diversity isn’t the backdrop here. It’s the foundation.

For too long, dancers in the South have had to leave home to access this caliber of training, this quality of faculty, this level of professional development. INNERGY was built to change that. World-class dance education — right here, right now, in Mobile, Alabama.

Mobile has its own energy — and Derreck Williams brings it!
We're excited to welcome Derreck Williams to the INNERGY Summer Dance Experience faculty, bringing Jazz Funk to the floor and his community to the room.

Derreck is a Mobile-based dance artist with a following that speaks for itself — and this summer, he's collaborating with INNERGY to bring that energy directly to pre-professional dancers ages 14–25 in their own backyard.

Jazz Funk isn't just a style. It's a language. And this summer, you'll learn to speak it fluently.

Alicia Nicole Thompson — Alicia Nicole, Co-Artistic Director of INNERGY Inc. — doesn’t just hold the vision alongside Tyra. She shapes the entire artistic experience from the inside out, bringing Katherine Dunham technique to the floor every single day of the week.

Katherine Dunham’s movement vocabulary is foundational to the Black dance canon — rooted in African diasporic traditions, demanding full body intelligence, rhythmic precision, and a deep relationship between culture and movement. Most programs never offer this. INNERGY leads with it.

This is not your average intensive.

We’re so excited to finally witness the first west afrixan dance performance in partnership with the Dance department of Floretta P Carson

A big shout out to Willie Williams and the bishop state Performing arts department for collaboratingin the event! And to The Community Foundation of South Alabama for their support in bringing west African dance to our community!

Come witness the fruits of this support and investment next Thursday Nov 20th at 6pm as these dancers take the stage for the first time EVER in the city of Mobile in West African Dance technique! Come hear live drumming and singing on November 20th at the John L. Leflore Theatre!
