New display of the Wall O’ adie prints at Moab Made tonight! I can’t help but reminisce on how this partnership started a few years back. What a great shop, with great staff and an amazing visionary local owner! It’s such an honour to be part of a project with such great artists who love the desert like I do. The Gratitude is endless. Thank you to and for the never ending support! 💜👩🏼‍🎨

One of my favorite desert phenomenon: magic hour light. For a brief moment, when the sun hits just right, the sandstone glows in an almost unreal intensity, but also matching in a calm and quiet quality. 🏜 ✨ “Last Light from Wall Street”, 2022. Creating aesthetically pleasing things is one of the many ways humans separate themselves from the rest of the animal kingdom, but today as I reflect on recent public and personal events, I need to embrace the other power of art making; art as therapy. People have different ways to deal with crisis in life but art making for me has often played this role and facilitated healing, shadow work, introspection and self awareness.
This is an untitled piece from 1999. I was in the middle of my psychology undergrad, in a high rise tiny apartment in downtown Montreal and had the urge to suddenly buy some painting supplies and get to escape the “world” that I was experiencing at the time. Aesthetic resonance doesn’t always happen, but the meditative feeling of art making brought things to the surface and made this piece still significant for me.

It’s a “must paint” day today.

Hi! 👋🏻 i’m Adeline. Adie for short. Here’s a mirror selfie of me heading out for errands to give you a recent visual if you only know me from the interwebs. I have prepared a list of simple facts for an accurate yet simple painting of my persona:
- Home is Penticton, in the Okanagan Valley of Canada’s British Columbia, but I’m consistently splitting time between the Pacific Northwest, my native Quebec and Moab, Utah. 🌎
- My first language is French; I have a slight accent. 🤭🤷🏼‍♀️ I started speaking English as a foreign student in upstate New York at 15yrs old.🇨🇦🇺🇸
- I drive across the continent at least twice a year, multi directions. I can dance in my car while driving, and I do. 😎🚙
- I LOVE cats 🐈‍⬛ 🐈 and costumes. 🦹🏼‍♀️
- I have a thing for extreme sports like rock climbing, backcountry skiing/snowboarding and mountain biking. I’m not specifically great at any of them, but I need to be OUTSIDE!🏜🏔
- I am a self taught artist. 👩🏼‍🎨I was trained in psychology and art therapy, and worked for a few years doing that, and now I’m fortunate enough to be able to paint for a living. ….
I have been painting for as long as I can remember (and there’s also some early “Adie” art out there that I don’t remember making 😆) and this is the Instagram account of some my work. Welcome! And thanks for being here! 💁🏼‍♀️

(I will slowly integrate my personal life into this account but if you’re interested in more, follow my private account ) Thx!

➡️swipe to see the full image➡️. Do you have people in your life who inspire you? If you do, do you tell them or do you keep it your secret? Do they know the effect they might have had on you or are they also going through their normal life events and maybe oblivious to the profound connection that’s right under the surface… What if you are also an inspiration? Would you believe it? An amazing person very influential to me took this picture of her backyard. She gifts the interwebs many of those gorgeous views of her backyard like that, sunrises that bring tears to your eyes, sunsets and storms that make you feel like you can touch them… Who is this person for you? Why not open this conversation? 〰️“Christy’s Castle”, 2021. 12” x 24” Oil on Canvas ©️Adeline guay The Original has SOLD, DM for custom size giclée prints.

When I was a teenager, my dream was to become a designer, and interior design was always super attractive to me as a dream career. Few people know that I went to school at NY Fashion Institute of Technology for a summer semester when I was 17 years old, barely able communicate in English, living in the middle of Manhattan in a tiny student room with another participant… I’m always curious to see the decorative result of my paintings or prints in their home, it’s one of the most rewarding feeling that encompasses fine art making and design. It makes a huge difference to see one’s painting complimented by a room compared to the way it looks on a messy easel.
