✺ the littoral necklace ✺ available tonight 5.13 at 7pm mdt

this necklace is named for the littoral (or intertidal) zone along the coast. it’s an ever-changing place, affected by the coming and going of the tides and splashing waves. a place where treasures from the deep wash up and are left to either be found or washed away again.

✺ picture jasper, turquoise ( #1 vintage wooden beads), ( #2 tiger’s eye). adjustable length & sterling silver closure.

thank you again for all of your support and encouragement with this collection. there is so much going on in the world and it can feel frankly really uncomfortable promoting my work online but i feel so lucky to do this for a living and i’m so grateful for those of you who choose to shop small and support artists.

“...to slip beneath the surface and soar along the silent bottom of the sea agile and shining in water honeycombed with light.” ✺ Ellen Meloy - The Anthropology of Turquoise

a few more necklaces that will go live tomorrow night 5/13 at 7pm mdt. an ode to the sun, stone and sea of baja.

it’s nearly impossible to describe this place where the desert meets the sea, but i hope these pieces represent the playful yet grounded nature of its shores. and i hope those little clips of one of my dives at the end show just a glimpse of the ethereal beauty what Ellen describes so well in the quote above.

let me know which design is your favorite :)

✺ tumbleweed talisman ✺ available this wednesday 5/13 at 7pm mdt

with all that is going on in the world right now, i find myself watching the tumbleweeds roll by with a little more curiosity these days. maybe there’s something to learn in their relentless pursuit of rolling onward.

this is just the first of many other new necklace designs that i’m thrilled to share with you all this wednesday evening at 7pm mdt. i’ll be sharing more in the next two days! newsletter will send out by 4pm mdt on wednesday, with an early access code for paid subscribers.

i am in that stage of the creative process right now that puts me into freeze mode on social media. i’m working through some new designs which always takes 100% of my brainpower, time and creativity. it typically takes me several days to get anywhere with a single design. the trial and error of positioning each bead, the second-guessing of color choices, the overthinking of if it captures the feeling i want to convey, etc. my creative process is not something i typically share, not purposely, but just that i don’t have the energy to capture it and share it. i think as small businesses there’s a pressure to always be sharing our process and coming up with new work to stay relevant. then the second we do, its on to the next thing. i feel like the energy i put into each design feels like it is getting lost in that kind of rush. my craft is so slow, so to me it feels right that the sharing process is slow too.

i’m mostly just rambling here but i ultimately just want to thank those of you who are here and who choose to slow down with me. and thanks for humoring how i choose to re-share past designs. i often catch myself taking my instagram feed too seriously, and today i wanted to break out of that and just share these portal designs again. i am always trying to find a way to more eloquently describe what inspires my designs, but i hope the images of these designs paired with these photographs of where i live speak for themselves.

thank you for reading my thoughts and for seeing the value in slow art ✺

✺ two of my favorite recent necklace designs i made inspired by our winter travels in baja california sur, mexico ✺

just wanted these two necklaces to have their moment to themselves on the feed.

i’ve been working away in the background on all the other aspects of business that aren’t photogenic or that entertaining to share about. i’m finishing up pre-orders from my last update this coming week and i’m so excited to unleash some pent-up creativity on some new works i’ve had brewing in my head the last couple months.

hope you all are hanging in there!

✷ THANK YOU!! ✷

i am blown away by your support with last night’s update. thank you endlessly for helping make this dream career a reality. as i shared in my newsletter yesterday, getting to work from the road this past winter felt like i finally “made it”. my husband and i have been working towards this for years and it felt really rewarding to be able to put some creations into the world inspired by this chapter of life. i could not be creating jewelry inspired by our adventures without you all, so seriously, thank you. thanks for believing in slow art and in jewelry that tells a story and connects us to place.

✷ I hope this collection of work inspired by our travels is able to transport you to a place where the desert meets the sea. Whether you’ve been to a place like that before, or not. I hope these pieces can carry that feeling of freedom and resilience that all deserts possess. ✷

there are still a couple slots open for pre-orders for the distant sands necklace (photo # 4) and the knotted desert necklace (photo # 10). thank you all for your orders so far and I can’t wait to show you all more of the ideas i’ve been experimenting with! hint: i’m finally making something to honor the namesake of my business…

let me know if there is anything from this past update or work from last year that you’d like to see next month!

vintage coral beads and knotted silk. vintage abalone shell slowly woven with glass seed beads. all of the shell and coral beads used in these necklaces are repurposed strands of beads that were passed down from a family friend. it felt right to use them in this collection inspired by our travels down to the coasts of the Baja peninsula this past winter.
i hope they transport you to a place where the desert meets the sea, wherever that may be for you.

newsletter will go out by 4pm MDT with some more info, as well as an early access code for paid subscribers as a thank you for supporting me and believing in my work.

hope to see you tonight!
