Our Story

The Rialto has been a theater house since 1908. From what we have been told and research has revealed, it originally opened under the name “Palm Theater” in 1908 and operated there until approximately 1911 at which time construction started on a new theater across the street at 406 E Erie (now the Long Lines Building).

Somewhere between 1911 and 1916, the Palm Theater moved across the street into the new building at 406 E Erie, and became known as the “New Palm Theater.”

Once the Palm Theater moved across the street, the old building changed hands and assumed the name “The Majestic” and operated as such until approximately 1938.

In 1938, it again changed hands and took on the name it retains today; “The Rialto.”
