I have a K40 Laser engraver which I have designed a lens system which allows you to add assist air. It also will allow the quick change of different focal length lenses to suit your cutting engraving needs. Mine are the, 38.1 mm, 50.0 mm, and , 75 mm.
I use aquarium tubing for the assist air lines. . I chose this so the gantry and lens housing would not have a heavy side load from the air assist hose.
For an air source I use a large aquarium pump, so far this is working very well. IF I need more air I can use a bigger air source.
Rigging the air hose can be a challenge but can be done. I tested this one at high speeds doing air cuts and all ran well . Been in use now for 10 months the nozzle/ lens holder is new.
I designed the air nozzle to hold the lens of choice, slide on easy and be retained by a set screw. It also has the air assist routed to the front of the lens and down out the nozzle.
I used this size of nozzle so one did not have to alter the home position and would miss the air removal duct which is 10 mm or so in the cutting field from the factory.
I gently tighten them in place and they work great. One can remove the lens for easy cleaning, as the things will get cloudy no matter what but this makes it harder for it to happen. I increase my air pressure if needed.
My son is a master at 3 D printing and took my drawings and made this wonderful improvement for this "bargain" laser.
You can purchase these from us. You get the Nozzle and 2 o ring retainers for 35.00 plus postage and we need a week to fill your order. I take Pay Pal and you can send me an e mail request at [email protected] Enjoy !
