EmPower Place EmPower Place is a hands-on family learning center that brings together science exhibits, UM role models, library books, activities and free snacks.

EmPower Place is a vibrant community space where children and families can learn and play together. This collective impact space is a collaboration between spectrUM Discovery Area, Missoula Food Bank & Community Center, and Missoula Public Library.

There are so many ways that we nourish bodies and minds at EmPower Place. Playing with puppets is one of our favorites!

Puppets give us a way to play, pretend, and explore big ideas. Sometimes it’s easier to talk about a feeling when we are talking through, or to, a character. Puppets can help us work through feelings, learn empathy, understand differences and belonging, learn friendship or cooperation skills, or grow in our abilities to express ourselves.

Have you been to EmPower Place yet? We are a free drop in family play center located at 1720 Wyoming St in Missoula. EmPower Place was created as a partnership between Missoula Public Library, spectrUM Discovery Area, and Missoula Food Bank & Community Center. We always have fun and educational activities, books, and snacks. Come on by!

Have you ever experienced food insecurity or benefited from social safety net programs? Have you ever wanted to learn more about how our government works and how to use your voice to advocate for change? Do you have a desire to learn from local leaders or build community with other passionate people? Our LEVL program - Lived Experience Voices and Leaders-might be for you!

We will be meeting two Wednesdays per month and provide stipends and lunch for participants. Participants must be 18 or older.

We are accepting applications for LEVL through September 30th. We will be interviewing everyone interested, finalizing the cohort by October 2nd, and beginning to meet on October 7th.

EmPower Place Summer Club sign ups have begun! This is a free summer program for 8-13 year olds that takes place on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. You can sign up for a week at a time- picking the themes and activities that fit your child’s interests and schedule. Anyone wanting to participate must reserve a spot in advance- space is limited.
