Anyone else feel like the base level of complexity today has grown out of control? Just today I received a letter informing me of a data breech that "may have compromised your detailed personal information," along with detailed instructions on how to access information on the identity protection service they so graciously auto-enrolled me in as "compensation."
I'm sure acting on this would involve pin numbers, passwords, special apps, 2 factor authentication, probably a phone call to straighten all this out, and then I'd still not know what info was shared and if I were at real risk.
Mind you, I didn't even do business with the company that leaked my data... they just bought data associated with my credit history through some financial juggling act and then proceeded to store it and let it leak... without my knowledge of any of it.
This is just a side quest mini-annoyance in my regular daily tasks of Teams calls, answering hundreds of emails, software updates, and all the other tasks needed to put food on the table... not to mention "real life" tasks
Can you imagine trying to explain any of this to someone from the 1800's? Along with all of life's regular struggles, the fact that some faceless entity can affect you personally in an instant from across the world, without having any interaction with them, nor them even knowing you existed yesterday is absolutely insane. Its an unfathomable level of complexity that we've just grown to accept and deal with. It's no wonder we all feel stressed.
Here's a photo of a mountain. Mountains are good. 🏔
