Smoke Cleansing, continued:

When we speak of cleansing or purifying a home or other space using burning herbs or resins, we are really building and maintaining an atmosphere more than we're removing energies. This is similar with other means of cleansing as well and I feel that this is a much easier focus that removing thing. In addition, it's up to you what influence you want in a space. If you feel drawn to an herb or resin and enjoy its scent, it's worth trying and seeing how this makes your home feel. You're the expert with this!

Although the herbs themselves do a lot, there are ways to add more power to this. Go outside with your herbs, charcoal, and incense burner and look up to the sky. Feel the breeze /wind if there is a breeze and take a deep breath. Breathe evenly and feel your breath becoming one with the wind/sky: the breath of the world.

Light your charcoal and add your herbs. Breathe in the winds of the world and then exhale, blowing onto the burning her and moving the smoke.

Keep a good focus on joining your breath to the wind and sky then head indoors using your breath to move smoke within the space, focusing on doors, windows, corners, crawl spaces, and other areas you feel need it. Open windows and doors to let the smoke clear.

Smoke cleansing of the home and other spaces

There are a great number of options for cleansing or purifying a space with smoke. Sage wands are a popular option that is readily available, but here are some other options:

Frankincense - My personal favorite for improving the atmosphere of a space and is said to also positively influence our moods. The scent is also much more pleasant than burning sage. Aligned with the Sun which is great for a balanced sense of well-being.

Lavender - Aligned to Mercury and gives a pleasant, clean scent.

Rosemary - as a kitchen herb this is readily available. This is also aligned to the Sun

Juniper Berries - aligned to Jupiter with its power to influence luck and fortune. Juniper Berries are also growing all over the place here so you can get out for a walk and stock up.

You can also play around with mixing some of these together in a mortar and pestle and see what you like.

I'll post again tomorrow with some additional info about smoke cleansing.

The crow and raven have followed human stories for centuries but not as passive symbols.

They observe.
They learn.
They remember.

In both science and folklore, crows and ravens are known for recognizing faces, holding grudges, and even teaching others who to trust and who to avoid. One negative interaction doesn’t just stay between you and one bird. It spreads.

You are remembered.

This is where myth and reality begin to overlap.

In Norse mythology, Odin is accompanied by two ravens, Huginn and Muninn thought and memory. They fly across the world and return with everything they’ve seen.

Not just events.
But awareness.

Because these birds have always represented more than death or darkness.

They represent perception.

The ability to notice what others ignore.
To remember what others forget.
To watch without needing to be seen.

In many traditions, they appear at moments of change battlefields, endings, transitions not because they cause them, but because they are drawn to thresholds.

Places where something shifts.

But here’s the part most people overlook:

Crows and ravens don’t just symbolize intelligence they use it.

They problem-solve.
They plan.
They communicate.

And they decide.

They decide what you are to them.
Safe. Threat. Irrelevant. Known.

And once that decision is made, it stays.

So when you see one watching you, it’s not random.
It’s not meaningless.

It’s awareness meeting awareness.

And whether you realize it or not you’ve already been assessed.
