💡 Employee Spotlight: Today we highlight our employee, Kelsey! We are so blessed to have her!
💕 A little about Kelsey: I seem to keep moving further north-from Florida, to North Carolina, to Indiana. I have been having fun wedding planning with my lovely fiancé this year! We live with our three pups- a chihuahua, a border collie mix, and a pit bull. I cherish our growing families and the creativity I can bring to our personal and working lives.
Q: How long have you worked at Board and Brush?
A: 3 years (where does the time go?!)
Q: What’s your favorite thing about working at board and brush?
A: trick question, multiple answers- 1) teaching kids classes and seeing their creativity grow with bright colors—and glitter!! 2) sharing best practices for “whoopsies” and touch ups. 3) and I LOOOOVE mixing colors to get customers the exact shades they’re envisioning.
Q: What do you do for fun?
A: puzzles (especially Star Wars), quilting, visiting with family, podcasts, audiobooks, and, of course, puppy cuddles
Q: What’s your go to stain?
A: Weathered Oak if I’m doing a painting technique, otherwise Dark Walnut. Weathered Oak is a light, honey brown, and helps the paint colors stand out in their true-to-swatch form! Dark Walnut is a rich, warm, chocolate brown that complements many color palates
Q: What was your first project?
A: a moon phases long board 🌒🌓🌕🌗🌘 I have been consistent with my love of painting techniques (and GLITTER!) since day one- I did a black wash on top of my stain and used a *celestial* white glitter on all of the moon phases.
I cringe now when I look back at the pictures of me peeling that stencil incorrectly, but it was a helpful experience that taught me how to better help newbies coming in 🩵
