A great opportunity in Minot this week!! Stop by and take a look!!

Carve Wars is in Minot this week and it is a REALLY BIG DEAL for our community! But how do you go see it? Here are the FAQs:

Do I need a ticket or pass?
No. Carve Wars is free and open to the public. Carve artists will be working from 9am-5pm Tuesday through Saturday. Community members can show up whenever and watch them work. You can bring lawn chairs, friends, lunch, or whatever and just take in this process.

Is there a BEST time to go watch?
Any time is a good time to show up, but there are a few times that will have more engagement than others. From 4-5pm on Thursday and Friday, carvers will do some Quick Carve demonstrations. These small works will be for sale via auction on Saturday at 3pm. Anyone can bid and purchase! The Prairie Sky Breads Airstream will be there at that time too!

But what about the big carvings?
Thanks to support from the Aggie Foundation, Magic City Lions Club, and some of the folks involved in the Mouse River Floodway Protection Plan, the five big carvings are all paid for and will be installed around the community in public spaces at a later date.

Will it be loud?
Probably - they are using chainsaws. All of the artists will have ear protection. You might want to bring it too.

Why is this all happening?
These big trees were all slated to come down as part of the flood protection plan. It stinks. Carve Wars came about because we want to turn this loss into a gain for the Minot community.

What did I hear about voting?
Our community gets to vote on which of the five legacy carvings we like the best. So show up starting at 9am on Saturday and cast your vote for the sculpture that you like the best!

Where is it happening?
In the parking lot of the Moose Lodge (400 9th St. SW). They have been very gracious and kind partners to host us. Thank you Moose Lodge!

Cantus is an eight-member, full-time low-voice ensemble based in Minneapolis–St. Paul. Working without a conductor and led collectively by its artists, Cantus brings classical, contemporary, popular, and newly commissioned music to audiences locally, nationally, and online.

We are extremely lucky to be able to work with Cantus and hope you will join us in Ann Nicole Nelson Hall at 7 p.m. for the concert and at 4 p.m. for the master class!!
