It’s been a while since the last post or check-in. I’ve been fishing around a little but it’s been difficult putting anything solid together when fishing effort level has only been in the 30-60% range. Also been enjoying life on land here in the north more than on water too.

Spent recent days on a bass bonanza. Far too many 8-14 inchers reside in some of our lakes. Despite catching in the triple digits not too many photo worthy ones.

Both bass are definitely past spawn right now. Weeds and plant life also behind too and not where it should be at some places for middle of June. Chilly week this week won’t be helping anything. Hopefully next time I return will be in middle of a nice warm front.

Wherever you choose to fish in the next week, expect numbers everywhere. You can catch fish on everything right now. Everything also mostly shallow.

I’ll start posting more as my fishing activities dictate . Website contents and newsletter running behind. We are definitely slacking off here but that’s what this year’s retirement break will do too.

THE BEST SPOTS YOU CAN FIND WITH SATELLITE IMAGERY -

Google Earth - we've talked a lot about it in last month's weekly videos. I use it weekly, sometimes daily. If you're into fishing clear water lakes and waterbodies for springtime smallmouths, it's going to be the most essential tool and piece of software you should be using right now in order to find new spots and locate potentially new ones on your lakes of choice. (HINT - on these clear lakes you will also see spawning flats and actual fish nests if you are good at identifying). Google Earth will help you find and locate hundreds of new potential fishing spots for all fishing you do.

This story will show you the top spots to find as you use the software on a year-round basis for all fish species and on all lake types and choices.

Even though I won’t have time to host you in 2026, I will still have some time to make some casts, go fishing, and produce fishing reports every few weeks.

I came out of a 7 month retirement to fish for only 2 days (7.5 total hours) in May, and I just got back from opener weekend. I didn’t think I’d get this opportunity but when you can go then you go!
