Join us tomorrow April 25 at 4 pm for our celebratory Winners Concert featuring our 2026 Young Artist Scholarship Competition First Place Winners.

We will have a presentation of awards after the music and a reception following the award ceremony.

This concert is free and open to the public.

Our Young Artist Scholarship Winners Concert will take place this Saturday at 4 pm. at .

This concert is free and open to the public with a reception afterwards.

Meet our featured artists for our next Artist Series concert — showcasing a piano duo, violin & piano duo, & solo piano.

About the Artists:

Yuko Shiina and Anders Martinson established the Pine Island Piano Studios (PIPS) of Minnetonka, and its performance arm, the PIPS Piano Duo, shortly after moving to Minnesota in 2022. With Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in piano performance from Tokyo College of Music and Cal State Long Beach, Yuko Shiina served for many years as the official pianist for numerous choral groups in the Los Angeles area.

Anders Martinson made his national piano debut at age 15 performing on Johnny Carson's Tonight Show. A graduate of Yale University, where he received top conducting awards, he has been 1st or 2nd place winner in multiple International Piano Competitions, and received the United States Presidential Scholar and Gilmore Foundation Young Artist Awards.

Meet our featured artists for our next Artist Series concert — showcasing a piano duo, violin & piano duo, & solo piano.

About the Artists:

Aja Majkrzak has been playing the violin since she was 4 years old. She received her Bachelor's of Music from the University of Minnesota in 2011 under the tutelage of Mark Bjork, and her Master's of Music from Louisiana State University in 2013 studying with Espen Lilleslatten.

Praised for her “excellent musicianship” (Talkin’ Broadway) and “stunning and emotionally evocative” playing (Cherry and Spoon), Carson Rose Schneider is a versatile pianist who works as a duo partner, coach, music director, and rehearsal pianist with opera companies, chamber groups, and choirs.

We are pleased to present our winners from the 2026 Young Artist Scholarship Competition.

Each winner will receive a certificate & a portion of the more than $20,000+ we give out during the competition each year.

Some of the first place winners will be performing at our Winners Concert Saturday April 25 at 4 pm at . The concert is free and open to the public.

About the Artists:

Winona State University faculty member Deanne Mohr performs extensively as a soloist and collaborative artist in the Midwestern United States and Canada. Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Mohr completed her doctorate in piano performance at Université de Montréal under the tutelage of Marc Durand. A laureate in several national competitions, she has been recorded in recital for CBC Saskatchewan and Radio-Canada and was featured in the Montréal Début Series and the Banff Centre of the Arts’ Summer Festival.

Join us for a morning of music in the Art Gallery (Second Floor) at Hennepin United Methodist Church on Thursday, April 9 at 10:30 a.m.

Enjoy performances by Deanne Mohr, piano; PIPS Piano Duo: Yuko Shiina, piano & Anders Martinson, piano; and Aja Majkrzak, violin & Carson Rose Schneider, piano.

From JS Bach to Astor Piazzolla to Zequinha de Abreu there is something for everyone.

This concert will be recorded and distributed to Thursday Musical members via YouTube.

About the Artists:

Carolyn Diamond, active as both pianist and pipe organist, performs regularly on concert series and in salon settings. As a recitalist, she has been praised for her buoyant style and interpretive vigor, and has the reputation of delivering passionate, colorful, and enthusiastic performances. Selections from her CD of piano music, Scandinavian Suite (also on Spotify), have been played on Minnesota Public Radio/American Public Media and some of her performances featured on Pipedreams.

Meet our featured artists for our next Artist Series concert — showcasing 's organ, piano, & flute

About the Artists:

Libby Laufers is a diverse musician having received her Bachelors of Music degree from the University of Minnesota and her Masters of Music from University of Missouri-Kansas City. She has been involved on the boards of several musical organizations in the Twin Cities, including the Upper Midwest Flute Association and the Suzuki Association of Minnesota as well as serving as a judge for Thursday Musical. Currently, Libby teaches flute, piano and organ from her home in Minnetonka and is the organist at Our Savior Lutheran in Excelsior. She and her husband, Jason Hernandez (also a Thursday Musical performer) recently welcomed their first child in December.
