Classification of the Other: Sound and Visual Aesthetics within Empire Cross Disciplinary Panel

November 12-15th 2026
PAMLA Conference in Seattle WA
(Abstract Deadline May 25th, 2026)

How does Empire decide who belongs? This panel examines the transnational logics of imperial classification — the overlapping visual, sonic, linguistic, and biopolitical systems through which states mark bodies as foreign, suspicious, or disposable. We seek scholars working across national and disciplinary boundaries.
