Help us build what’s next.

Letters from Max was meant to be on our stage this season. When we paused programming, that production was among the things we set aside. On June 3, we are bringing it back to Open Book as a benefit reading — one night, one room, with Sarah Ruhl in attendance.

Sarah Agnew and Jesse Lavercombe read. Christina Baldwin directs.

Reception 6 p.m. | Reading 7:30 p.m. | Tickets $150

Every seat helps keep our artistic vision alive, our community gathered, and our future in motion.

Presented in collaboration with Milkweed Editions and Open Book.

Dear Friends,
After careful consideration, we have made the decision to put the Jungle Theater building up for sale.
We know how much this space means to so many of you. It holds decades of memories—for artists, audiences, and our entire community. We feel that history deeply, and this was not an easy decision.
At the same time, owning and operating the building has required a significant share of our resources. This step allows us to focus more fully on what matters most: supporting artists, serving audiences, and thoughtfully planning for the future of the Jungle.
This is not the end of the Jungle Theater.
It is a transition—and an opportunity to reimagine what comes next.
The Jungle has always been more than a building. It is the people who make and experience the work. That community continues, and it will shape what comes next.
We’ll be sharing more as plans develop. Thank you for being part of this community and staying with us in this moment.

We’re grateful for the care and support surrounding the Jungle during this pause. While we continue planning for what’s next, we’re staying in practice with artist-led classes from our Artistic Leadership Cohort—join us.

We’re also beginning to shape ways to gather and support the Jungle together, with more to share soon. Stay tuned, and join us (link in comments)!

Classes with Allison Vincent:

April 13 and April 20: (6:30pm-9:30pm $25 each session)
Devising workshop: In this workshop series, participants will get hands-on, play based experience learning how to make theater on their feet through devising. Games, small group exercises, prompts, scripted text, and the collective's imagination will be utilized to create brand new content in room. Become a better collaborator, improviser, and begin thinking outside of yourself as the performer of stories.

April 14 and April 21: (6:30pm-9:30pm $25 each session)
Clowning and Play for the Actor: Free your natural silliness and hit the mute button on your inner critic. This fun, furious workshop will help participants begin to unlock their innate playfulness and become better listeners and more inventive stage performers.

Since announcing our programming pause, many of you have reached out with questions, concern, and offers of support. We are grateful, and we want to update you directly.

We know there are questions circulating about our building. We are currently engaged in conversations with funders, partners, and advisors regarding the future of our physical space. These conversations are ongoing, and no decisions have been made. What guides every consideration is the same question that has always guided our work: what gives the Jungle the best foundation to continue making theater that matters?

We also want to acknowledge what we know many of you are feeling. The Jungle has been a longstanding home for artists, audiences, and this neighborhood. Uncertainty about its future is unsettling. We don’t take lightly what this pause means for the people who have given so much to this organization.

We believe the Jungle’s work has never resided in our productions or the building alone. It lives in the relationships, standards, and community we have built together with you over decades. That does not pause.

To those who have asked how you can help, the most meaningful thing right now is to stay connected and to make a contribution if you are able. Although our programming is paused, we are still operating our building and actively planning for the future.

Donations during this period help us maintain the capacity to plan carefully and move forward when the time is right. You’ll find a link on the homepage of our website.

We will continue to communicate directly as plans develop.

To Our Jungle Community,

We have made the difficult decision to temporarily pause programming for the remainder of our 2025-26 Season in order to create the conditions for long-term sustainability.

Like many arts organizations across the country, the Jungle Theater—along with its audience, community, and donors—is navigating significant financial headwinds.

This pause allows the organization to step back from production, assess our options, and plan for the future, rather than continue in ways that could compromise our mission or impact.

While our stage may be quiet this season, we are not closing our doors. Our leadership and board remain committed to the vital work of reimagining our future and protecting our continued positive impact. This moment is about care, stewardship, and responsibility – ensuring that when the Jungle returns, it does so with the foundation needed to serve artists and audiences well for years to come.

The Jungle Theater will share updates with its community as planning progresses and will be reaching out to subscribers and other ticketholders to share options and information in the coming weeks.

In solidarity,
Christina and Rachel

Our hearts are heavy but full of love for our immigrant community near and far. We stand in solidarity with all those that feel the weight of fear, oppression and threats that the ICE occupation has brought to our state and our nation.

We have decided to postpone next week's reading of I NEVER ASKED FOR A GOFUNDME. There are many unknowns, but we do know that we must prioritize the human needs of safety and care. The artists and audiences that gather here at the Jungle must feel welcome and safe in our cozy LynLake theater...and we need to ensure that for all, not just for some.

The Jungle's LynLake intersection recently has been under a magnifying glass with the inspiring efforts of our neighbors Wrecktangle Pizza and Smitten Kitten in helping those directly affected by ICE efforts. We witness and uplift our friends and neighbors as each of us look for big and small ways to demand our collective safety.

We will share more as we know more. Until then--keep sharing your stories.
