Hi friends,
I’ve been holding our community close to my heart lately. It’s a heavy time in the Twin Cities, and I know many of us are just trying to process everything. For me, I’ve been putting much of my emotional energy into a new series of paintings for an exhibit called Love Life, which opens this Saturday at Gallery 360 in South Minneapolis.
I believe deeply in the connection between art and the soul and it’s ability to heal, inspire, ground and connect. This is especially true in times of tension and uncertainty. It’s a way to bring people together, find common ground, and remember the beauty and resilience that sustain us.
This collection, a series of femme noir portraits, is very personal to me. They channel the emotions and internal shifts that happen when we pursue love—both for ourselves and for others. The theme of self-love has been a long, introspective journey for myself over the last few years, and I’m looking forward to talking more about that at an artist talk soon (date TBD).
The exhibit opens this Saturday, January 17th, from 6-9pm at Gallery 360 on 50th and Xerxes in South Minneapolis.
I’d love for this to be a space where we can gather, find a moment of peace through beauty, and hopefully leave feeling a little more connected to one another.
Be safe and take care,
Nicholas Harper
