🔔 Reminder for artists: qualifications due this Friday, July 15—
The City of Hopkins - Government and Minnehaha Creek Watershed District are working together on the restoration and redevelopment of the 17-acre site at 325 Blake Road.
We are looking for 5 artists/artist teams who:
* Can use art to inspire and engage with the community.
* Are comfortable talking to strangers & meeting new people.
* Listen to the community’s vision for a welcoming, inspiring, fun place to inform a clear artist call to be developed by Forecast for future public artworks.
* Are connected to this neighborhood or its diverse cultures.
In order to:
Share information about this project with community members through creative, inclusive engagement activities that are hands-on and engaging for participants, where they have opportunities to share their thoughts, comments, and concerns in a variety of ways.
We are especially looking for artists with these skills & identities:
* Artists with a sense of connection to the area. Hopkins is a dynamic community of 19,000+ people, where 40% of residents are people of color and 65% of the housing is rented.
* Indigenous Artists, Latinx artists, Somali artists, artists connected to the cultures reflected in the neighborhood
* Bi/Multilingual Artists
* Poets, Musicians, Writers
We would like to hire at least one artist who has an interest in and knowledge of the environment (especially water), and at least one artist who uses technology (video, projection).
Artist Fee: $8,000 for each of 5 artists/teams + shared $10,000 materials budget.
