Better late than never is the saying right?
Uproar Comedy Open Mic in the new event space was so good! I am glad that we can have a very intentional mic that allows so many new folks to try comedy, AND Du Nord can still host chill evenings for people on dates who don't want to hear me joking about body slamming Beto O'Rourke
Huge shout out to the folks who come out and support , wether it be to come watch or partake in the mic. Elise Cole Comedy, Jon Stark, Madeleine Farley and Lucy Emilia made their Uproar debut and we can’t be happier!
Special shout out to Dontrell Townsend for bringing me to tears with his new jokes about TV commercials.
I love Uproar Comedy Open mic, and I love my co-producer Devohn!
Next Monday, April 15th we have the super funny host of , Kate McCarthy closing out the show! Come laugh with us and perhaps make your comedy debut.

TOMORROW! We have he homie Dontrell Townsend closing out the night at the first Uproar Comedy Open Mic of the month! Find out more about him below:

“Starting comedy by filling in for a friend last minute in St. Cloud, to a standing ovation, Dontrell still didn’t realize they would continue comedy 7 years later.

Born and raised in Chicago alongside 2 brothers, he believes bringing humor to people can be more healing than any drug, and no outpatient too.

A semi-finalist at the HOC competition 2018. A regular at The Nest showcase, Sisyphus brewing, Comedy Corner Underground, and House of Comedy’s Triple Threat Tuesdays.

Dontrell aims to distract you from the negative in your life with his humorous life stories.”

Devohn Bland appreciation post.

This man is as precious as water. Life giving with insight and laughter. Always taking in new perspective and willing to hear me out on the strangest concepts.
Without his hard work, kindness and humor, Uproar and Vector 9 would not be the same.

This month marks 1 year of us producing and hosting together.

Hoping to retire and get our diapers changed at the same nursing home when we’re too old to travel and care for ourselves. We’ll start an open mic for older folks. Where retiree comedians come to do sets to their old fanbase.

Excited for our future together.

***One of the primary intentions of the this Vector 9 is to provide a safer creative space for those who face oppression. Our intention is NOT to create a space where nobody will be offended or uncomfortable, rather we hope that any discomfort that arises comes from challenging power and privilege, rather than the repetition of the same oppressive narratives and behaviors that pervade most spaces. - Big shout out to Not So Macho Music Collective for originally creating these words that fit

A spotlight on one of our musical guests for Sunday.
Jack Dzik is one half of Riverdog and the founder of experimental and noise label, Eyemyth Records . On the label he features his own band, Riverdog that consists of him and Léo Remke-Rochard.

Check their music out on the eyemyth Bandcamp. The self titled album is a twisted and beautiful journey of sound.

"Riverdog is a twin cities based two-piece that drags its jazz influences through the mud and murk of improvisation, experimental noise and power electronics. The sound is suffocatingly innocent and at times too transparent to be fragile, nevertheless it is one that could only belong to the same sonic origin. With noise and percussion at its basis, Riverdog contents itself of what it has while struggling to find territory."

When s*xologist Logan Sand came to us with the idea to bring their S*x Ed show, "Happier Hour" to Vector 9 via segment, of course we said, "Hell yeah!"
"S*xologist Logan Sand seeks to bring conversations around s*xuality out of the shadows and onto center stage. Knowing that s*x ed in schools usually fails q***r, trans, kinky, as*xual, and non monogamous people as well as... just about everyone else. Logan brings the education you need to you— from schools to community organizations, now to the stage at Vector 9, no topic is off limits. This month help them celebrate their new publication in the American Journal of S*xuality Education— Removing Judgement: Discussing B**M in Adult S*xuality Education."
