🔥 LAST CHANCE: DANCES WITH DALÍ 🔥

Today at 5 PM sharp, Flamenco X returns to The Southern Theater for the final performance of Dances with Dalí.

This show brings flamenco into conversation with theater, movement, surrealism, character, live energy, and the wonderfully strange world surrounding Dalí. It has been a wild, collaborative process built by artists willing to experiment, take risks, and create something that doesn’t fit neatly into one box.

If you’ve been meaning to see it, today is the day.

Tonight, we performed Dances with Dalí to a sold-out house at The Southern Theater.

There is something powerful about stepping onto a stage after months of building, rehearsing, revising, collaborating, and trusting one another, then looking out and realizing every seat is filled.

Thank you to everyone who came out tonight and shared this work with us. And thank you to the artists, musicians, dancers, directors, designers, and collaborators who have poured so much into bringing this production to life.

Opening night: SOLD OUT. ❤️‍🔥

We’re incredibly grateful, and we’re not finished yet.

We’re thrilled to share that Flamenco X and Dances with Dalí are featured in NewPrensa in a beautiful new article by Nelson Serrano: “Dalí, Duende, and the Dance In Between.” 💃🏽🖤

The piece goes deep into the world behind this production, from the visual art and choreography to the live music, cultural grounding, surrealism, and the elusive idea of duende.

It also introduces some of the artists shaping the work, including María de los Reyes, Jeanne d’Arc Casas Panouze, Marija Temo, and Monica Barela-Di Bisceglie, and explores how Dances with Dalí moves between traditional flamenco vocabulary and something more theatrical, contemporary, and unexpected. (NewPrensa)

We’re grateful to NewPrensa and Nelson Serrano for taking the time to look beyond the finished performance and into the ideas, history, conversations, and creative process that brought this work to the stage.

And the timing couldn’t be better: Dances with Dalí opens TONIGHT at The Southern Theater. 🔥

Flamenco is more than movement. It carries history, language, music, regional traditions, and generations of lived experience.

At Flamenco X, culturally informed dance instruction means teaching with that context present in the room.

Led by an instructor of Spanish heritage, our approach connects technique and choreography to the cultural foundations of flamenco. Students learn not only how to execute movement, but how to listen, communicate, understand musical structure, recognize the function of different elements, and engage with flamenco as a living cultural practice.

That means working with rhythm, palmas, cante, guitar, improvisation, and the relationship between dancer and musician. It also means discussing where forms come from, how traditions have evolved, and why cultural context matters.

Our goal is not simply to teach steps. It is to give students the tools to participate in flamenco with greater knowledge, respect, curiosity, and artistic independence.

Culture informs the movement. Music informs the choices. Understanding gives the dance depth. 💃🏽

A glimpse behind the scenes of Dances with Dalí. 🖤

There is something incredibly beautiful about this part of the process, before the lights come up and before an audience ever takes their seats.

It’s the hours spent in rehearsal. Costumes being fitted and adjusted. Music taking shape in the room. Choreography being questioned, changed and discovered. Artists listening to one another, experimenting, laughing, working, and slowly building something that none of us could have created alone.

Dances with Dalí brings together an extraordinary group of artists:

Artistic Director & soloist María de los Reyes
Musical Director, guitarist & vocalist Marija Temo
Director of Dance & Movement Dr. Jeanne D’Arc Casas
Visual Arts Director Monica Barela-Di Bisceglie

With dancers Rafaela del Sol, Cecilia Calvo, Hilde De Roover, Estefanía Alvarez and Katie Fuller, guitarists David Elrod, Ross Fellrath and Mateo Davies, and Louis Fontenant bringing Dalí himself into our strange little world.

What you eventually see onstage is only the final layer. These photographs hold some of our favorite parts: the conversations, the experiments, the mistakes that lead somewhere better, and the trust that develops when artists are given space to create together.

We’re getting closer. 💃🏽🎸🎨
