Flamenco X: Creating Space for Healing, Connection, and Community

In the wake of the recent violence and harm caused by the Metro Surge operation, many members of our Minneapolis community are carrying grief, fear, uncertainty, and exhaustion. At moments like these, it becomes even more important to protect and nurture the spaces that bring people together across differences, foster understanding, and remind us of our shared humanity.

At Flamenco X, we believe the arts are more than performance. They are a way of gathering, listening, learning, and healing. Through movement, music, rhythm, and collective expression, we create opportunities for people to reconnect with themselves and one another.

Our work has always been rooted in accessibility and community participation. In response to the challenges our community is facing, Flamenco X remains committed to offering free and pay-what-you-can classes, workshops, and community gatherings. We believe financial barriers should never prevent someone from accessing creative expression, cultural connection, or a supportive community.

Flamenco has always been an art form of resilience. It carries stories of displacement, survival, joy, resistance, and belonging. When we dance together, make music together, and learn together, we create space for those stories to be shared and honored.

We recognize that healing does not happen in isolation. It happens when people come together. It happens through conversation, creativity, mutual support, and collective care. Our classes are open not only to those who wish to study flamenco, but to anyone seeking connection, expression, and a welcoming place to belong.

As Minneapolis continues to process the impact of recent events, Flamenco X will continue to invest in community-centered programming that prioritizes access, inclusion, cultural exchange, and healing. We remain committed to creating opportunities for people of all backgrounds, ages, and experience levels to gather through dance, music, and shared artistic practice.

Together, we can build spaces where people feel seen, supported, and empowered. Together, we can transform rhythm into resilience and art into community care.

All are welcome.
Classes remain free or pay-what-you-can.
Our doors remain open.

💃🏽🎶 At Flamenco X, our approach to flamenco education goes beyond choreography and memorization. 🔥

We focus on structural understanding 🧠, musical analysis 🎼, communication 🗣️, and improvisational development ⚡ within the art form itself.

Students work not only on technique 👣 and movement vocabulary, but on understanding how rhythm 🥁, timing ⏳, structure 🧩, and musical interaction 🎸 shape the dance.

Classes and workshops incorporate live collaboration with musicians 🎶 through guitar 🎸, singing 🎤, palmas 👏🏽, and percussion 🥁 in an immersive format centered on listening 👂🏽, adaptability 🔄, and real-time exchange ⚡

We also emphasize improvisational development by helping dancers build from foundational steps 👣 and technique 🔥 toward creating rhythmic phrasing 🥁, percussive variation ⚡, and more responsive movement 💃🏽 with greater musical understanding 🎼

Our goal is to help students develop fluency within the structure 🧩, musicality 🎶, and collaborative nature 🤝 of flamenco, not simply reproduce choreography.

Few people see all of the work that happens behind the scenes but all of the glitter and glamour of being an artist, and being on stage requires teams of folks giving their time and their energy to help you be successful. It truly takes a village of love. Thank you to all of the crew out there that make the magic happen on stage!!
