💡🎨 Artist Tip: Soft Pastel Sticks Aren’t Just for Drawing!
By Birgit's Studio - Mixed Media Workshops and Product Design
Did you know that you can use soft pastel sticks to transfer texture to your gel plate?
Just take a textured item like a wooden block stamp (as Birgit is using), or try a piece of lace, textured cardboard, leaves, and more.
Rub the surface with a soft pastel stick, making sure to cover all the details. Tap off any loose powder, then “stamp” your texture onto the gel plate. This creates beautiful blended colors with a soft, dreamy feel.
Roll out a thin layer of acrylic paint and use any paper you like to pull the print.
✨ Note: Pastel stains left on the gel plate can be cleaned with a bit of (baby) oil.
