FRIENDS of the Minnesota Orchestra

FRIENDS of the Minnesota Orchestra Creating Connections to Music We coordinate 200+ volunteers, who donate more than 6,000 hours each year to fulfilling our mission.

Founded in 1949 as a separate non-profit dedicated to supporting the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra, the original name of our organization was the Women's Association of the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra, or WAMSO. Today, our name not only reflects the updated name of the Orchestra, but also the current composition of our members and volunteers: men and women from various backgrounds, from stude

nts to retirees. FRIENDS of the Minnesota Orchestra takes the broadest possible view of diversity. We value the visible and invisible qualities that make individuals who they are. We celebrate that every member, volunteer, and donor brings a unique perspective and experience to advance our mission: to make classical music and our Minnesota Orchestra accessible to every person in every community. We strive to include diversity, equity, and inclusion practices at the center of our volunteer work and our outreach programs, bringing music to our community and particularly to young children. Please join us in embracing diversity, equity, and inclusion for every person in every community.

You’re invited to our annual membership luncheon!
Wednesday, September 16, 2026

Join the FRIENDS of the Minnesota Orchestra for our annual Membership Luncheon and Meeting, a celebration of imagination, community, and the transformative power of music.

Inspired by our 2026-27 book, The Tin Forest, this year’s event—A Forest of Possibilities—invites you to dream with us as we gather at the beautiful Edina Country Club on September 16, 2026.

The day will begin with a welcoming reception at 11:30 AM, followed by a delightful lunch and an inspiring program featuring a preview of the Minnesota Orchestra’s upcoming season, the recognition of our outstanding Volunteer and Partner of the Year, and a special case for support for our beloved Kinder Konzerts.

After lunch, we will convene for our brief annual meeting at 1:30 PM. Please join us as we reflect on the seeds we have planted and look forward to the lush forest of possibilities ahead.

We kindly ask that you RSVP by September 7th.
