Minnesotans! Action Needed—
Two urgent developments at the Capitol threaten our state's film industry. We need your help now—please act today!
1. HOUSE: Explore MN Film Office in Jeopardy
May 6: The House Workforce Committee voted on HF 2441, which includes cutting funding for Explore MN Film. The amendment to save it tied—so it failed. The office remains at risk.
We have support from DFL members. Now, we need to convince Republican Co-Chair Rep. Dave Baker (Willmar).
Email Rep. Baker: [email protected]
Include:
* Your name + address and if you’re a constituent.
* Say you strongly support continued funding for Explore MN Film, which is critical to administering the tax credit.
* Share your role in the industry, why it matters to you, and any relevant personal insights.
* HF 2441 cuts this funding—ask him to work to reinstate it.
* Request a call or email back.
2. SENATE: Film/TV Tax Credit Cut in SF 2374
May 7: The Senate Taxes Committee held a hearing on the Senate Tax Bill (SF 2374). Our side spoke strongly in favor of the tax credit—but the committee is holding firm on the cuts.
We need YOU to contact the Senate Tax Committee members—especially Senator Ann Rest if you’re her constituent.
Tell them:
* Your name + address and if you are a constituent.
* Ask them to oppose cuts to the film/TV tax credit.
* Two things are important to their decisions on this bill that we can speak to: a modern economy and tourism and Film supports both. If you have an impact story related to either please share.

THINGS ARE CHANGING VERY QUICKLY and communication is KEY. We will do our best to post here regularly and as quickly as possible.
