Mission: Gather people to explore the creative potential of glass. Vision: A diverse community of dedicated makers, enthusiasts, seekers, and newcomers who feel welcomed and engaged at our center. Established in 2009, Foci MCGA (Minnesota Center for Glass Arts) proudly represents a vibrant arts community as Minnesota’s only public access studio and education center. Our 501(c)(3) non-profit organization is located in the Seward neighborhood of South Minneapolis and offers a full glass studio curriculum taught by artists locally and nationally recognized, as well as programming for youth, corporate group experiences, events, and exhibitions. Our goal is to be a safe space for all to feel welcome and engaged, creating experiences that motivate curiosity, build excitement, and advance mastery.

Wednesdays 6-9PM

In Intro to Coldworking, participants learn how to properly and safely use the equipment in the Cold Shop and well as techniques for working by hand. Equipment covered in-depth includes flat lap wheels, the lathe, beltsander, wet saw, handheld die grinder, and sandblaster.

Join Kimberly Thomas (Zii) for an artist talk and live flameworking demonstration at Foci MCGA TOMORROW! Friday October 9th, 2026 from 6:00pm-8:30pm!

The artist talk, held next door in Threads Dance Project, will offer insight into her process and the world behind her kinetic sculptural work. Then, in the Foci MCGA Flame Shop, attendees can watch her work on the torch first-hand and up close as she demonstrates how her glass forms come together in real time, with the chance to observe the details of the process as she builds and finishes her piece.

Join us at Foci Minnesota Center for Glass Arts on Tuesday September 29th, 2026 from 6:30pm-8:00pm for an artist talk featuring our 2026 Foci MCGA Regional Glass Artist Travel Scholarship Sponsored by Bicycle Glass Co. recipients including Evalin Becker, Leah Perrine, and Rachel Phoenix! Explore a spectacular array of handcrafted glass pumpkins, participate in seasonal glass activities, or enjoy free glassblowing demonstrations at Foci Minnesota Center for Glass Arts during the 5th Annual Glass Pumpkin Patch October 3rd & 4th, 2026!

Saturday- Sunday October 3-4, 2026 from 12:00-5:00pm, an all ages event!

-Shop hand crafted glass pumpkins from Local Artisans
-Public Glassblowing Demonstrations
-Pre-registered Design Your Own Pumpkin
ASL interpreter onsite Saturday

Glass Pumpkin Patch: Shop from a variety of hand crafted glass pumpkins, each a unique masterpiece that captures the essence of the fall season! These locally-made goods are perfect for early holiday shopping or treating yourself to something special. No entry cost. Glass pumpkin pricing varies. Light refreshments will be provided.

Glassblowing Demonstration: Free glassblowing demos will run throughout the afternoon. Spectators will get to watch blown glass pumpkins be created first-hand! No entry cost. Seating is provided.

Design Your Own Glass Pumpkin: Work with a professional glassblower to select the color, stem style, and design of your very own glass pumpkin! After selecting the pumpkin’s features, watch it get created in real time right before your eyes! $50.00/pumpkin. Must pre-register online. Takes approx. 15 minutes. Your pumpkin will be ready for pickup within five days.

Individuals under 14 are required to attend with a Parent or Legal Guardian.

National Night Out at Foci MCGA!

On Tuesday, August 4, Foci MCGA joined our community for National Night Out right here in the neighborhood. We brought out our NEW mobile glassblowing furnace and trailer and put on live glassblowing demonstrations for the public.

It was a great opportunity to bring glassmaking outside of the studio, connect with our neighbors, and give people a chance to see the process up close.A big thank you to everyone who stopped by, watched a demonstration, asked questions, and helped us celebrate community!
