Whether you’re already involved in the local arts scene, an aspiring dance professional looking to bolster their training, or just a human who loves to move, Hothouse offers classes that celebrate the bliss of movement, and embrace you for who you are. Hothouse is presented by Rachel Doran and Laura Sukowatey, the same minds behind Minneapolis contemporary dance company Crash Dance Productions. As homegrown dancers, whose appreciation for learning has never wavered, Rachel and Laura believe in the abundance of the Twin Cities arts scene; Hothouse is the inclusive, welcoming hub where movement lovers of all kinds can gather and instill their own identity.

Part dance practice, part creative play, this class dives into the physicality and themes of Chicago artists Erin Kilmurray and Kara Brody’s Knockout – a fierce contemporary dance duet powered by high-femme silhouettes, boy-ish horseplay, toothful camp, and athletic, anti-hero energy.
 
Participants will be guided through a sensation lead warm up, practice (learn) dynamic floor phrase work, and apply these materials towards experimentation in tension, proximity, play, and negotiations of power in a queer-affirming and community-motivated atmosphere. Come twirl!
