Week 9 (August 12-16)
Garbage Art (10 AM-Noon)
Ages 6-14
Make art and puppets out of household and found objects. Learn how to make art out of anything! Have a stash of random stuff in the attic/basement/garage/junk drawer that you just *know* can be used for something? Here's the perfect opportunity to figure out what it is.
Taught by Pinwheel co-founder Angie Courchaine, May Day and BareBones garbage artist.

Stand Tall! Learn to Stilt! (1-3 PM)
Ages 9-18
Start the week off by making your own pair of stilts to keep! Beginner-intermediate skills will be covered as participants build confidence in walking and dancing on high! Week 8 (August 5-9)

Things that Spin (9:30-Noon) Ages 7-12

Explore the forces of spinning in this hands-on class. We will design tops, create simple animation, build a circle swing, and make mini cars while learning about the science of movement. We will spend time building daily and test our inventions in the park.

Taught by fiber, puppet, and kinetic artist Tara Fahey

Crankie Stories (1-3:30 PM) Ages 9-14

Before there were videos and animation, people made stories using scrolls. In this class we will move through the process of creating a story using pictures and words. We will transfer this to a scroll, install it in a box with a window, and make a simple turning mechanism to create a “Crankie”. Part of our work will be exploring sound and voice as we practice telling our stories. On the final day, we will share our story boxes with family and friends.

Taught by fiber, puppet, and kinetic artist Tara Fahey
